Has anyone taken them through airport security (in carryon)? I have my own, but have never tried taking it through security. Just don't want to do that and have it take all my $ off, if that could even happen...

I take mine in my carry on every trip (at least 6 times) and have never had a problem.:thumbsup2

Have you considered taking the batteries out before you leave and putting them back in when you arrive in Orlando?
I think you cannot remove or change the batteries; the transponder unit is sealed. At least the Mass and NH and Maine ones are like that (and also don't work in Florida).

Sooner or later, and hopefully at least five years away, the batteries will expire and you need to get a new transponder. There may or may not be a credit when you send the old one back in.

Just another point of interest here - the amount of money in your account is not known/maintained by your transponder. All your transponder has is a unique ID code that is read at the toll plaza. The reader does a look-up on a central computer system that maintains the account balances. So, no matter what happens to your transponder, it doesn't affect your balance. :teacher:
