I spoke with our Escrow Officer at FAT Co and they said they would be glad to add my SSN and a password when submitting our closing info to Disney. Then I started wondering how long a password with Disney needs to be. Can anyone who has one tell me how many characters it should be, can it be a simple word or need numbers, special characters (caps or special signs like a $) Thanks!! WE are mailing our closing docs TODAY!!! Yeah!!!

I would use a pass phrase, mostly for memorability. Something unusual and easy to remember, like a nonsense phrase. It'd be a pain explaining over the phone a complicated series of capital and lower case letters and symbols.

For example: "Small camel ties a knot" or "Heavy fig boils occasionally"

You could also just use three or four unrelated words: "Dare triangle fishhook abundance"

In a pinch, a song title or other memorable phrase is probably fine, like "Smells like teen spirit" or "Put your left foot in". But something really obvious like "To be or not to be" is probably not a great choice.

One question is whether you're wanting this for extra security, or just to get your member ID faster. If it's the latter, use a single word, like "shoehorn", and then once you have the account set up, fax in a request for them to remove the password. If it's the former, then something more secure than a single word is probably a good idea.

We submitted my SSN years and years ago and DVC uses the last 4 digits at the password. Using the SSN was fast, easy, and allowed MS to search for our new account.

I have been told that your SSN is now required by the Federal Government on all real estate transactions.

Depends on your nationality. Canadians do have a SIN number but it's not something to openly use for privacy and security issues and whenever I call and they ask for the last 4 digits (we did give our SIN number on purchase and that was fine) I remind them that I am Canadian and so they accept my address instead.

You can use anything you like, for example a word, a number, a combination of a word and a number, a phrase, whatever is easy for you to remember. Since you provide it over the phone, I would stick with real words and numbers, no symbols. It's not like an online password where there are software programs out there trying to break into people's online banking accounts. MS doesn't type it in when you call, they just verify that what you said matches what is displayed in your account information.
