I just called to make a ressie there and the CM said to arrive early and ride the boat. What is the boat?? Never heard of it. We are doing a 6:30pm dinner and watching illuminations afterwards. Should we arrive early and do the boat. What exactly is it?

It is a short boat ride that passes the restaurant. It has changed recently to include Donald. We like to do it, but it only takes about 10 minutes assuming there isn't much of a line.

Ok thanks. Maybe we'll arrive a little early to try and do the ride. :thumbsup2

You can check with them, I believe you should be able to check in early and ride the boat around while waiting.

We ride it whether we are eating there or not. It's actually on our list of rides to visit. It's a little like the boat ride in Norway, which is also a must on our list.
Have fun!

It's called the Gran Fiesta Tour, and it stars the Three Caballeros. Jose and Panchito are looking for Donald in Mexico.

Thanks for the up-date on the boat ride, it sounds like it'll be fun again - although we definitely give the restaurant food a pass, we enjoy the boat ride there & the one in Norway, too.:rolleyes1

I like the Norway boat as well. However, after riding it the CM's forced us to wait in the exit area and then a presentation on Norway is shown. After seeing this a few times I really didn't want to wait through it again. The CM's blocked the exits and would not let anyone out the door until the presentation was over. I never rode it again. This was about 2 years ago.

Is this still the policy for the Norway ride?

You may have to wait in the exit area for a few minutes until the last 'Spirit of Norway' movie is over, but then once the double doors open you can just walk straight through, past the chairs, and out the double doors on the other side into the gift shop. You don't have to stay for the movie.

:lmao: Apologies to any Norwegian Disers that may be reading this, but does anyone stay to watch the film more than once? I'm definitely in the "Sprint through and out the other side" brigade :moped:

Yuck--don't eat at the San Angel Inn. See the thread about worst dining experiences--looks like the San Angel Inn shows up the most often (although Fulton's Crab House HAS to be worse).

Sorry--it occurs to me that I shouldn't have said "don't eat there." I should have said "I would suggest that you eat somewhere else because there are lots of better restaurants, in my opinion, in Epcot.

We only do the ride during evening EMH now...every single time we have done so, they have not shown the film.

Sorry to hijack the thread!

San Angel has EXCELLENT authentic Mexican food. The problem is that most Americans really do not like authentic Mexican food. They are used to a very bland Americanized version typical of most restaurants throughout the country. Those of us who truly love Mexican food, live in the southwest or are lucky to have an authentic local place will love San Angel.

I so agree with you on this point! I love San Angel Inn for the fact it is not Americanized or Tex Mex (love Tex Mex but also sometimes love not having it). This one gets a bad rap because its so different from what most people are used to. Although one time I posted this sentiment and got called an idiot, where were you when I needed you to back me up?? ;) :rotfl:

We have enjoyed San Angel Inn several times in recent years. However' our last visit was just awful. Food was was lack in general, cold and service was non-existant. We asked to speak to a manager and still had to wait for that( no one ever came), finally just asked for the check so we could leave. It could have been just a bad night but with all the negative posts I think something else may be going on here. We usually will give a restuarant a second chance but with so many to choose from at WDW we are going to pass on SAI, for our upcoming trip and try something new.

Not necessarily! We live in Texas and have LOTs of good Tex-Mex, as well as little authentic family owned type true Mexican restaurants around here that we love. One of my coworkers is from Mexico City. Now that woman can cook GOOD Mexican food, and no it's not TexMex. San Angel Inn is not even close to either. We've eaten there three different times (because the people with us couldn't believe it could possibly be as bad as we had told them:rolleyes: ). Well guess what, all three times the food has been barely lukewarm to cold and service has been horrible. The chips taste like plain tostidos out of a bag and the hot sauce out of a jar. Sorry, I agree with the previous poster. There are too many good restaurants in World Showcase to waste your time on cold, bad food and bad service at San Angel Inn.
