I told my FIL who lives near DL to check into getting the annual passport for himself and we would get the special online right now for a 5 day hopper for the price of 3. So FIL calls the number and they guy tells him that ANYONE can get the S. Ca passport. I am too scared to risk it. Wouldn't they ask for our driver liscenses when we go there? If he bought them all would they check? It is only 1 per ID, right?
Why would the Disney guy tell him this? He tried to talk him out of the hopper pass for us.
Maybe FIL has it all goofed up, I dont' know.

I wonder if anyone here has used the S.Ca pass? Do they check for id? I think I am still a little too nervous to buy it and find out once we get there we can't use it. The mousesavers seems to say you can do that though. Hard call.

If you are planning to pay by credit card they will check your ID then for sure.

We bought a So Cal pass for my nephew on our last visit. They take your ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER, regardless of how you pay for the pass.

Just FYI. I suppose that doesn't mean they won't necessarily sell it to you if your address is out of state, but just something to think about.

We live in Kentucky, and we used the Southern California annual pass for our trip two weeks ago. We experienced absolutely no problems. When I called to order the passes, the CM assured me that the passes could be used by ANYONE and that they were only "marketed" to So. CA residents. They do have a number of blackout dates, but they did not affect our trip. We also experienced no problems in validating our vouchers at DL, and we showed our ID.

Hope to help.

I live in Washington and have purchased the So Cal AP the past two years. My husband purchased his in April, 02...we have had NO problem...noone has every questioned us about having this pass. We too received the explanation as Cara - it's marketed toward So Calif residents, but anyone can purchase it...just be sure you're okay with the blackout dates.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I will call them. Can you order over the phone? I checked the blackout dates and we aren't going on anyweekend days so it will work out perfectly.
Thanks!

I have a So. Calif. annual pass and, no, they have never checked for I.D. with the pass. I do live within the stated zip codes so don't take this as an endorsement that it will work for you with out-of-state ID.

I purchased the passes at a local Disney Store and I faintly remember the sales clerk asking to see my I.D. After that, no one has ever asked; including the people at DL who took my picture and processed the pass.

Many people have done this. Go for the So. Cal AP's if the dates work.

I can also vouch for this. A friend from CT wanted to purchase a $149 pass (strictly because she lived out of state) until she was told by the CM at the processing center that she could purchase
a $99 pass without residing in So. Cal. Go for it...you should have no problem.

Just went in August and was at the gate buying a 3 day pass and the woman asked us if we wanted a So. Cal pass instead. We said we were from MA and she told us that was OK and sold us the passes.

As has been said before: Check out the blackout dates. Almost half the year has been blacked out! Unless you visit during the week during the off season, the pass is of little value to you whether you live in So. Cal or not.
