I want to be able to charge to my hotel room, but I was wondering if I can just put a credit card on my room but not have them charge my room...meaning when we check out I would like to pay cash, I do not want them to bill my credit card...also how much spending limit do you get at a deluxe resort..i.e.WL??? TIA for any help!!!

Yes, if you do not use express check out, you can settle your bill in cash when you check out. (They do, however, charge your credit card for the cost of the room when you check in unless you have paid that up front).

I believe the limit on your card at a deluxe is $ 1500.00 (this does not count the room costs-just incidental charges). When that amount is reached, they bill your credit card and start over with a fresh $ 1500.00.

Great Thanks so much for the info!!!

I always go and pay cash the night before we check out and review the bill.

Yes, you can do that, however, you'll have to go down to the front desk either a) on the night before you check out, or b) before you reach the $1500 credit limit at a deluxe resort, so that your credit card is not charged. Your credit card will be charged during the night before you checkout, normally, unless you reach the credit limit before that. If you reach the credit limit, the latest scenario seems to be that they will not authorize any more charges until you speak with the front desk and verbally authorize a credit card charge, and then they start a new limit for you. If you wanted to pay in cash, you'd have to then stop at the front desk and pay, before they started a new limit. To me, it seems to make more sense to give them your cash at checkin, and have that be your credit limit on the card, which they can do. Then you don't have to worry about your credit card being charged at all. Hope this helps rather than confuse, hehe.

Yes, you can also leave a visa or mastercard debit card linked to a checking account for room charges. This is what I mainly do, and I feel safe doing it at Disney, because they don't place "holds" on the funds like other hotels do. Disney just waits until checkout or credit limit reached and charges the actual charges.

A little tip when using a visa/matercard bank debit card..... Most Debit cards use a daily limit security feature for charges/withdraws. Like an atm card does, but a debit card is generally a higher limit than an atm withdraw.
I used my Mastercard debit card on our last trip to WDW and used the express checkout on our last day, thinking everything was fine. Well a few weeks later WDW contacted us about our "outstanding balance" ! We FINALLY tracked it down to the limit on our debit card. We had more charges on our room charge than the daily withdraw limit on our debit card. So WDW could not get paid from our bank. If they broke it up into 2 or more daily payments........it would have been fine. Eventually we got it resolved by sending WDW a check in the mail. It all worked out in the end, but it was a headache for a little while.
So, just keep this in mind if you use your debit card. Before you leave for WDW, check with your bank to find out what your DAILY withdrawl limit is on your debit card. It might save you (and WDW) a bit of grief down the road.
Later..........Syndrome
