Will the resort cash travellers cheques for us? I don't want to carry around large sums of money on me at one time and would love to get "X" amount in travellers cheques and cash them at the lobby as necessary? Any info haning around on this site? I know you can charge up to 1000.00 on your room key(staying at CBR) but does it have to paid by credit card or can I take 500.00 up to the front desk and have them apply it to my room card? Or can I pay on check out with cash????

Hi Cdnmom2001,

We have never had a problem cashing traveller's cheques anywhere at WDW. We always take large denominations (50s and 100s) to keep the tracking simple. At the resorts, you can just go to the check-in or guest services. You should also be able to cash them at guest services at the parks. Never had an issue. As for charging to your room key, I have always provided a credit card but I am sure you could put cash up front and get a credit on your charging priveldges. We always put the remaining traveller's cheques on our account at the end of the trip and they credit back our credit card. Works well for us.

Hope this helps.

TC.

We have never had a problem cashing travellers cheques anywhere at WDW but for simplicity's sake, we charge most stuff to our room and either at the end of the day or the next morning before heading out, we make a payment to cover the previous day's charges. That way, you don't have to carry cash for anything.

Hi, I didn't read the replies so my answer might already be up there, we brought travellers cheques with us last time we went and cashed them at one of the stores. I don't remember trying to cash them at the resort but any of the stores you go into will cash them for you.

Thanks everyone, you are all making me feel so much better. I will defintely do the travellers cheques and pay them every few days or if they will allow it a larger lump sum with them.

In order to have charging privileges to your room you have to put down a credit card or cash. We have done both. With putting down cash you can then charge up to the amount of cash that you have deposited and it's really easy to add more. You might have to insist that you can put cash down on the room though -- we've run into it a few times where the CM insists that it's only a credit card. Once they get a supervisor and they figure out how to do it though it works out fine.

We did this last year, we took USD travelers checks with us, we took them to the front desk and asked them to add them to our room key, we just added more as we went along the week, I loved it..we were very aware of our purchasing this way, and at the end whatever was left over they refunded in cash to us...it was VERY easy!!! We will do this again this year...
