If I rent points and have them transferred into my account, can they be a different use year than mine? Can they be banked? Can I rent points at a different home resort and have them in my account like my own? I have lots of questions about transferred points. Any and all info is welcome! Thanks!

I have many of the same questions - if transferring in do the points have to be same resort, same use year, etc? How do you book if they're different?

We're debating a 100 vs. 160 point contract (we stay in a studio so ultimately need about 130 points).

Technically iirc they are supposed to be same UY points as the UY you are in but have also read that MS has allowed let's say my September 2008 UY points to be transferred into your April 2009 UY. Transferred points may be banked by you when you receive them if they are within their banking window ( they retain their UY; they will not morph into your UY ) but again, MS has been known to sometimes allow them to be banked if they are past their banking window.

You may get points transferred to you from a different Home Resort and Use Year(month) BUT those Transferred Points will always keep their original Home Resort and Use Year - if your Home Resort is different the transferred points do not become points with your Home Resort and they will not change to your UY - so unless they've got the same Home Resort as you own you cannot combine transferred points with your points to book a reservation until 7 month window.

Transfered points are not like a rental ( a rental is when another member books reservation for you and then that member controls the reservation until you check in, ie you cannot call MS to inquire about the reservation you've rented etc ). A transfer of points is directly into your dvc account and then you will use those points to make reservation with MS and will handle all details of the reservation etc yourself.
