? about Refillable mugs...

I was told this morning by my AAA agent that the "premium" DDP that is coming out for next year includes a refillable mug which is good at all of the PARKS.

Hmmmm, I thought I had just read somewhere that the parks wouldn't refill the mug due to health safety issues??

Methinks she doth be confused. I'm pretty certain that the refillable mug included with the 2008 DXDDP is the same ole' refillable mug they've always had, and it's only good at the resorts.

Yeah, me too. It is the same refillable mug that they've always had--but I even asked her TWICE---you mean in the parks?? She said yep. Could you just imagine how confusing THAT would be? on top of everything else going on already??

All these plans and packages, etc---Disney sure knows how to confuse things. Apparently they can't find anything that works well for them, so they keep trying to change things thinking it'll make it better.

I say open Disney 24 hours a day, flat rates for everybody on the tickets and rooms without seasons, free mugs for everybody that purchases a ticket---and let the fun begin!!!!

I can tell you that they will not let you use your mug to refill in the park even if you pay because of health issues so you will not be able to help the environment this way. I remember someone asking about this earlier, and the CM told them to just take the cup and pour it in your mug, which kinda defeats the purpose.

Yeah... that health issues thing is iffy. At Starbucks they have a dunking station so they can fill your coffie mugs and such. So no prob there. I have been told at lots of restaurants that if they are clean (or look clean, I assume) they will fill if they use a beverage and ice dispenser. You know, so the ice scoop doesn't touch the offensive mug (hahaha).

Oh yeah, and when I get told "just dump it in after" I give them the here's-your-sign look and walk off.

I think it is just crazy because you can get a refillable cup/mug at AK which somehow I guess you can't get germs in Animal Kingdom or the Resorts or Blizzard Beach or Typhon Lagoon some health issues are only a pain in MK, MGM, and Epcot.

too funny. Yeah... those freaky germs always end up in the cool places. Pretty moot for me cuz I always clean my in the bathroom sink with soap/water before re-using.

I think it just depends on how much you plan on being at the resort or in your room because df and I got our mugs last yr and while we used them each night (usually with soda from the soda machines) we weren't able to take advantage of the free refills since we normally stayed at the parks until closing and the refill place would be closed by 11pm so we weren't able to take advantage...I know we are going to do it again this yr because they are a nice souvie to have and also we plan on staying around the resort just a little more than last yr. and I can't live without my soda

I'm buying a refilable mug for the frist time on my trip in December. My thought was to fill it on the way to the park each am and sip it on the way to the parks and finish it before hopping on a ride.

I read somewhere (not even sure if it was on he Dis) that the bus drivers are ok as long as it has a lid. Have you heard this as well? Will I be able to walk into a park with it or does it need to be finished before hand?

I figured I would loop it thru my bag when empty and refil on my way back to room. I can't wait for my first trip to Pop.

MY opinion is for me it's worth it. Our typical stay is Sunday - Friday. And even though we are DVC and have at the least a kitchenette and can make coffee in our room and have a mini fridge, I get my monies worth.
On a typical day I get a coffee in the morning, a soda for the drive to the parks, a soda for when I am at the resort's pool, then coffee or cocoa at night. So for one day that's $8 in drinks. For a 5 nght stay that's $40 worth. YMMV since you don't drink those items.

They are also a great souvineer! We have always gotten them in the past and will get them in October when we are at the GF!

We did this last year, and the only park we had problems with was AK. We were asked to throw away the straws. The bus drivers never said a thing.
BTW, I looped mine through my bag when it was empty, and the picture on the cup got scratched up. My husband put his in his backback and it was just fine.

IMO carrying the mugs all day in the park would be a pain in the patootie. Getting on and off rides, in and out of cars, with that thing bbumping me would annoy me to no end. If it is coffee you need and want to use the mug consider renting a locker for the day.

I don't drink coffee (somehow I missed that addiction ). If I was a coffee fiend, i think i would stumble out early and fill my mug and drink it while getting ready in the morning (it would be a scary site int eh food court early in the morning, I can tell you that ). Then leave for the parks unencumbered.

We usually do not get the mugs. I buy a case of water and drag a bottle with me every morning.
