We are planning to stay at POR in Alligator Bayou in a corner room on the first floor, hopefully in building 14. My question is for those with service animals - would this room/location be big enough for a service animal (3 yr old black lab), his huge kennel, and a family of 4?

Someone mentioned to me that the moderate resorts might not be big enough for a family of 4 and a large service animal.

With the exception of Caribbean Beach Resort all of the moderate rooms are 314 sq ft including the bathroom and dressing area. CBR is older and the rooms there are 340 sq ft. That extra 26 sq ft is an 8¼% increase in space.

Just to note - actual room locations/specific rooms are only a request, not a guarantee, even through special services. They cannot move a guest out of a room for another guest to use, so if all the corner rooms are taken, (as in, someone decides to stay longer) they will give you the best/closest accommodation.

If you get to your room and find that you need a little more room you can call the front desk and tell them that you have to have more room to put your kennel up and ask them to remove the table and chairs. We had this problem with our sons stroller not being able to turn in the room at POP and they came and took them out for us and that was just the thing we needed. I'm sure that POR would do the same if need be.

Is there a specific reason that you need to bring a kennel? Is that where your dog sleeps? I don't kennel my dog as she needs to be available to assist me but I understand that others may use one. Also, unless there are specific circumstances, such as you are going to the pool and it's hot out and you'd prefer to leave the dog indoors for that time period, your SD should be with you and not in the room unattended, even in a kennel, but I'm not assuming you are planning to leave him in the room, BTW. If you do leave him though for some reason, be sure to put the do not disturb sign on the door so as not to surprise housekeeping. :-)The rooms in a moderate resort should be fine for a party of four. There would still be space for the kennel. You can always move the table/chairs a bit or often there's a storage bench that could be rearranged or removed. My dog is large but she doesn't take up that much space and she'll go lay down wherever there is room for her or wherever we throw down her bath rug to designate her "space". I'm also not certain, but if you're just wanting to store the kennel you might ask bell services if it could be stored in the luggage room during your stay.---Kathy
