We just closed on a resale but I'm not able to check into any reservations yet as they said it may be another week. But we have points I really don't want them to go to waste. I was thinking maybe a weekend Disney Cruise but was wondering if I could pay for my 2 year old son because we wouldn't have enough points for him & really don't want to use my other points with the large amount of points it takes for the cruise.

Just wondering if anyone knew how the points worked for the Disney Cruise Line & if you have to pay on top of that. Or if anyone had any suggestions for how to use my points. We actually live in Jacksonville but really don't want to go near Disney World during the summer so I was just trying to think of some fun things to do to use up the points. With being new to DVC I'm not sure what all our options are & since I'm new & the points will be expiring I'm not sure how easy it would be to rent them out to someone. What options are available through RCI? I was thinking if someplace on the beach that was close enough to drive might be an option too. Also, we wouldn't really be able to go anywhere for a whole week maybe just a long weekend.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate it.

Hello! You can definitely mix cash/points on a cruise, provided there is space available. Call Member Services and they can check for you, just be sure you are 100% committed to going before actually making the reservation. Member Services will explain all about "reservation points" to which your vacation points will be converted.

Renting points is very easy. Simply post a note on the board with the number of points; when they expire; and what you are asking per point as the rental fee. Odds are, they will go very quickly. Make sure you know whether the points are banked/borrowed/transferred points or just regular points about to expire. That will determine whether you are able to transfer points to another DVC Member or whether you will need to make a reservation on the renter's behalf.

It sounds confusing - and it can be! - but Member Services is absolutely wonderful and incredibly patient. By the way, I'm a long time DVC Member (1995) and I've rented points on two occasions. Both times it was a great and absolutely painless experience. And it's fun to "meet" Members in the process!

Welcome!

I think it is too late to book a cruise - you can't reserve points outside of DVC in the last 4 months of your use year.

When you post seeking info on possibly renting out your points, you cannot include details such as Use year, number of points, dates, etc. Therefore, this thread has been heavily edited to remove those items.

General questions pertaining to renting are fine, but when doing so no details may be included. They can only be posted on the DVC Rent/Trade Board. Thanks much!

I'm sorry I didn't realize that I was just wanting to know some general information but will make sure I post it correctly next time.
