??? about Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater

Are they out all day, or do they come and go?

Can you stand right next to them,or do you have to stay behind a rope?

Are their engines running when you go up for photos?

You can stand right next to them, touch them, etc...

While we were there, their motors were not on, but have heard they do at times start up/rev up.

Being able to touch Lightning was my older dd's highlight of the trip, lol.


Edited: Forgot to answer your 1st question, As far as I know, they're out most of the day.. at least they were every time we passed that area...

They're at Hollywood Studios, sort of behind the Muppet 3-D theater. When we were there this past November they were out all day.

I think I remember seeing posted times for them on the schedule....it was a big stretch of time, though.


My 4yr old son dearly loves CARS and really enjoyed having his picture taken with them. Me? I was disappointed. They look great but couldn't they have talked? I think so much more could be done with them.

They are there for most of the day at Luigi's Garage in Hollywood Studios.

They are in the Streets of New York right around the corner from the stunt show. They do have motors running and their eyes move. (We were there in line before they opened so we wouldn't have to wait too long, the line gets pretty long, and they were having trouble starting them up. They had the mechanics out there and worked for about 10 minutes to get them running, finally they opened the garage and it was the highlight of my sons day) They have a photopass photographer there too. Those were some of my best pics, the look on my sons face was priceless. It was a little rushed, but a great idea to get there first thing. The line is right in the sun.

We never saw in DHS but in California Adventure we saw both they had loud engines and the kids were able to go up and touch and get pictures. But as with all characters Disneyland resort is just caos compared to Disney world .

We were not able to see them last year because they had to go get gassed up. We did see them last week and they were revving their engines.

I just saw 'em yesterday. Their eyes were moving and there was plenty of revving, but they don't talk.

Not anymore ... they have moved to a "premanent" location called Luigi's Garage that is where Al's ToyBarn used to be.

I miss watching Lightening & Mater "drive" up but I sure don't miss the lines!!!


I'm editing my post: I think the original poster WAS refering to Luigi's Garage, my mistake! I thought they were talking about the first location that was on a side street of the Streets of New York where they used to drive to and from for their Meet&Greets ... sorry for any confusion.

Are you sure it replaced Al's Toy Barn? Where did Buzz and Woody go?
