We have an early dinner PS (5:20 pm) at LTT in January. First question, is this early enough to be done and out the door in time for Wishes at 7:30 pm? My DS turns 4 that day so I ordered a small cake for him (with Mickey on it). Has anyone had the cake? The CM who took the order said she had it for her DD's BD and thought it was very good. Next question, does the cake come with candles? If not, can I bring in 4 small candles? Will they light them?

Finally the menu sounds fine for me, DH and maybe DS, but other than mac and cheese, what do they have that VERY picky kids will eat? (DD6 won't eat any meat and DD8 just doesn't care for most "adult" sides).

Any help would be appreciated!!

I ordered one for my DS9's birthday this past October. If it's the one for the additional $10 it's ABSOLUTELY one of the best cakes I ever had. Normally, I don't even like cake but this was a yellow cake with whipped cream frosting which was the absolute best. Had I known it was going to be so good, I might have skipped dinner and just had the cake. ;)

If I remember correctly, it came to the table with candles already lit. Characters and servers too. It was wonderful.

Happy Birthday to your DS! Enjoy your trip!

One more thing. When I made the PS, I mentioned that we were celebrating my DS9's birthday. The CM made a note on the PS. We had a 5:05 priority seating. After we checked in, one of the servers asked if we wanted to be the "Bell Family" for the night and open the restaurant. I am fairly certain that it was because of the note on the PS that we were selected.

DS3 was asleep so I stayed with him. DS9 and DH got to meet with the characters and then DS9 got to ring a bell to officially start dinner being served. It was cute.

If you show up a bit early for your PS, maybe your DS would have the opprotunity as well.

Have fun!

cgcw,

I think it is the same cake, small, yellow cake with Mickey on it. The CM told me it was great. I did tell the CM when I made the PS it was DS's birthday. She was the one who suggested the cake (she had one for her DD's birthday at LTT too). She also said that when I checkin to remind them and ask for a BD card signed by the characters. Did you do that? I'm not telling DS a thing so he will be surprised. I can't wait. We were supposed to go last month during the kids' fall break but my mom and stepdad were in a terrible car accident. My stepdad lived almost a month before he died. My mom is in a wheelchair for another few weeks (she broke both legs--plates and screws in both and a bone graft in one). Needless to say, we need this trip. My kids are missing the first full week back to school so we could go when the New Year's crowds die down. I hate that they are missing school but like I said we all need this vacation.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to the cake.

Cinder1,

I am so sorry for all your family has gone through. It certainly sounds like you need a change and a vacation. I hope it's magical all around.

I did not tell my DS9 anything either. That way, he had absolutely no expectations. He did receive the signed birthday card at LTT - we did not have to ask. In fact, he was pleasantly surprised a couple of other times based on information put on the PS. Some of the CM's and restaurants make a big effort to acknowledge the kids. Crystal Palace did a cupcake and card based on the birthday button he was wearing (free at guest relations in all of the park -- same one everywhere, make sure to get your DS one). The CM at Cape May went out of his way to use my son's name (they asked when we checked in). When my DS asked how he knew his name, the CM told my son it was part of the Mickey Magic. CM at Ohanas also went out of her way to make it special for my son -- again based on the birthday button. DS wore it all week long.

It's a magical place and you never know what just might happen.

cinder1,

My DD can be picky, too, esp. about meats. She ate 1 bite of pork, one bite of beef, some mashed potatoes, some stuffing, and 2 stringbeans. She loves to eat, but is so excited about the characters that she "forgets" to eat, and then we have to get her a snack about an hour later!

Enjoy your trip - we are just back and had a wonderful time. :)

All of mine are picky, but, of course, like different things!! My youngest (DS who will be 4 that day) will like the meats. My DD8 will probably eat cake and stuffing and maybe a bit of turkey. DD6, well who knows. Maybe she will eat the mac and cheese. That's it. Dinner at our house is nuts. But I was a picky child and my mom went the other way with it and did not accommodate me at all. Well my feelings were hurt all the time over it. My oldest is slowly trying new things so I think if I leave them alone, they will do well eventually. My most picky (DD6) doesn't like a lot of the things that are bad for you. I hope she keeps that part and learns to like the things that are good for you. It's an adventure!!
