? about leaving surprises for kids?

I read somewhere about parents leaving the kids a special Disney surprise and making it look like Mickey or Tinkerbell had been to thier room while they were sleeping and left it for them....

If nyone has done this I would love to hear about how you did it, what you left for them and any ideas, I think it would really help keep the magic around for the kids since we arent staying onsite....or even in the same towm...haha

I bought a lot of stuff at the Disney Store, mostly plush characters and clothing. First night I went back to the room to "get the passes to ESPNzone" then laid a Mickey shirt out for the entire family and had a card from Mickey welcoming us to his "Happy Place". It was classic when we returned to the room, my 7 YO said, "Mickey is a swell pal." They wrote him a note of thanks and handed it to him the next day at the park.

Then I went to the door one morning because someone knocked (it was really me on the wall) and Tigger sent some shirts for the family as well. Of course they thanked him with a note as well.

Goofy sent more stuff for our trip to his kitchen. Lots of little moments that made it more 'magical'.

The last one was when I ordered "guest of honor' badges online. I had them in my pocket the first day to the park, found a CM while my wife distracted the kids. I had the CM present them to the kids like he knew who they were and was welcoming them to the park. They were awestruck that this guy even knew who they were. I was like !

It was a blast! Have fun with it!

Well depending on what hotel you are staying at, the hotel itself might be able to help you out. I usually buy things Disney related thru out the year..books, color books, toys, swim outfits etc. Then while my hubby is parking I will take it to the front desk and ask them to put the stuff in my room. I always include a buket and shovel, or beach bag--something to hold all the stuff, new backpack,etc. And each one is labled with the kids name. The hotels are very helpful, some evev have the black and white photos of MIckey and Minnie and will sign them for you. Call your hotel, and be really, really, nice about it! , and askthem if they are willing to help. I have ordered XMAS tress to be delivered also, and the hotel staff has set them up for me. Well, were driving from Az. My mother in law has worldmark/trendwst timeshare so we are staying in Oceanside for the week and just driving up to DL 3 of those days, so I was thinking the nights before we go to Dl I could slip something in there room for when they wake up, like a Disney T shirt to wear to the park that day with some little stuff as well.

I'd do something for my wife, but she'd figure it out. My 11 month old wouldn't care right now heh

When I went with my nieces (ages 7 and 9) and we were on a girls only trip (their mom and me and the two girls), I got them princess pj's and sticker books and all kinds of things. I wrapped some of the small gifts (including glow in the dark bracelets that I got at a 5 and dime store). One of us would distract the kids on the way to the parks, and the othe would conveniently forget something in the room. (Aunt Chris was very forgetful that trip! lol) When we were on the way to the parks the first night, I rushed back into the room and put out their pj's with a Mickey plush for each of them. It only took a second and I caught up to them before they even got on the elevator.

The little gifts would show up on their pillow occassionally. A CM at the hotel front desk sent them each pictures of the princesses. (The weekend became known as the 'princess weekend', and we would even leave housekeeping notes (with tips) from the princesses in room ###)

I really love the idea of having a park CM give the kids the guest of honor badges! Thanks for adding a new trick my disneyland surprise book!

...is to wait until the kids are asleep (our kids always sacked out completely - too much excitement and running around). Kinda like what I do as "Tooth Fairy" - sneak something on top of their pillow, or on the dresser/desk.

They'll be so surprised when they wake up in the morning!

I have done this with my niece. When we went to WDW, every morning there would be a note and a little gift from underneath her pillow. I got most of the stuff from the dollar store, then wrapped it in tissue paper. What was fun is that she went straight for the note first...always wanted to see what Tink had to say!!

Of all the things that we did at DL, the gifts that Cinderella and Minnie left for my girls everyday are the first things they tell people about their trip. How they snuck in and left presents for them and that they must be like Santa to know the perfect special present for them. ( Souveniers that they really wanted that mom said no too.) These are now their most prized posessions.

Every time we saw the characters they would shout out thank you and they wrote them letters. Believing in magic is wonderful!

I love the idea about the CM's I will have to remember that.

I bought lots and lots of sparkles and sprinkled them on my daughters bed. I left her a note that was in a little lanturn I bought. I also left her some Neverland goodies. When she woke up she loved it.

Last summer my wife and I took our kids to Disney World for 8 nights during the week of July 4th (best vacation yet!). Prior to traveling, I bought a pre-signed autograph book of Disney characters on eBay for a few bucks. I am sure someone bought several blank books and then got very imaginative with the various "signatures," but it was great! Plus it saved us a ton of time having to wait in autograph lines! I also preordered name badges and monogrammed hats or caps for all of us from a shopper-for-hire service. After checking in, I left the wife and kids in the van for a few minutes so I could "check on the room" and left the name badges and autograph book along with a note from Mickey welcoming my kids to Disney. The kids loved the surprises to say the least and it really set the tone for the whole trip to see the first major outburst of excitement from them.
