DH and I want DVC, but he wants between 150-160 cheaper SSR points. partially because they are cheaper and partially because he doesn't think that home resort advantage will be much of an issue since we are flexible and currently like to travel May or Sept/Oct/Nov.

Does anyone have two 75-80 point contracts (with the same UY), and can you share your thoughts/regrets?

(I tried posting this basic message a few minutes ago, but it disappeared/never showed up - I'm not trying to advertise what I want)

My feelings is that you should buy where you love to stay.

Over the last couple of years Disney has changed several rules/policies that have changed the value of our membership. This tells me that they won't think twice about making future changes.

If you don't care when you used your membership or where you stay then buy cheap.

okay if everytime you get to stay at SSR.

there is a rumor that DVC may require resales to only stay at their home resort????

some say this won't happen - but it is in your contract. so they may.

have 60 at VWL and 50 at BWV -next year booking both of these. already have for BWV - oct - food/wine festavial - in Jan will book VWL for Dec.

my main place is BLT. you just have to bank and borrow to make it work.

Not a problem to have multiple contract at multiple different resorts. We have 200 at AKV and 50 at SSR. We're building up the SSR as our 'whenever' points. Book last minute, etc. AKV we do use for the 11-month advantage.

Go buy resale. SSR points are nearly $20/point less than through Disney.

Also, Disney cannot restrict contracts based on resale. Whatever they offer an original purchaser they have to also give a resale buyer. If they want to restirct home resort only it will be across all contracts.

I go with "Buy where you want to stay" if you will book before the 7 month mark. If you don't plan that far in advance it really will not make a difference.

We have two resorts, SSR and VWL. SSR was our first purchase and we added VWL for the home resort advantage. The one disadvantage of two resorts can be if you want a Grand Villa and have spilt resorts. We found that when we want larger family trips, we have to book at the two different resorts (or split stays) and than try to change at the 7 month mark due to the number of points needed.

It's more like 1/2 what Disney is selling for (120pp vs. 60pp)

I bet they won't mess with the 7/11, but I'm not ready to buy until next summer anyway, so we should know by then.

I noticed that w/ a 75-80 point contract, we'd never have enough pints through banking & borrowing to stay a week in a THV. We could rent points or have SSR points transferred in to my account though.

Keep in mind that SSR ends in 2054 compared to older resorts(BWV, OKW, VWL, BCV) which end in 2042. AKV end in 2057. BLT ends in 2060.

SSR is a good deal as long as you are happy staying there, if you can't get what you want at 7 months. No matter what, always book your home at 11 months, then try to change at 7 months.

Good Luck!
