We will be leaving in 3 weeks and we DON'T have a non-stop flight. I am planning to gate check the stroller but we are flying from Hartford to Charlotte and then switching planes to fly from Charlotte to Orlando. Will they have the stroller waiting for me at the end of the first flight and then I will gate check it again when getting on the second flight? Or will I not see it until Orlando? We only have about an hour between connecting flights, by the way.

When you board you will leave it by the door of the plane and they will bring it back up when you land at Charlotte. However they can be slow. Some flights it was there when we walked off, others we had to wait several minutes.

As long as your first flight is on time, and you have some time to spare before the 2nd leg, you should be OK. Items that are gate checked are generally the last things in and the first things out of the airplanes belly.

That's what I'm worried about. It's actually just under an hour between our flights so I'm worried that we may be cutting it really close.

They usually give you the option to have it go straight thru so it is NOT brought out at your connecting city, however the one time we requested this, it was sitting there waiting for us on the jetway when we deboarded the plane. It was a good thing they brought it out before we got off the plane or we would have walked off without it.

We have gate checked strollers on numerous flights (almost always w/a layover, and sometimes one that is only an hour long) and have never had any issues w/getting to our connecting flight on time.

Not sure if that helps but just wanted to reassure you - unless you're sitting close to the door it will take you a little bit to get off the plane and it usually doesn't take them long to bring the gate checked items out.

We've been lucky that our strollers have always been waiting for us when we land at our connecting airport. That is really the reason we gate check our strollers. If we are trying to catch a connecting flight, it is easier to put our DD in the stroller and book it to the next gate.
