So I only keep my Myspace to stay intouch with my friends and cousins from school. I posted how I got a spam message, and sure enough my account was phised.

Does this happen on Facebook?
Can you add layouts and graphics to your page, like a MySpace page?
What are the similarities to MySpace?

I'm seriously considering dropping the MySpace and using a facebook.

You can't do backgrounds and stuff like on myspace. But I've never recieved any spam or anything bad on Facebook, and I've been on there for a good year or two.

ETA: It's basically the same thing as Myspace. You still post pics, write on friend's pages, meet new people, etc. I think it's a lot easier to navigate than Myspace. I tried myspace for a day, and I was so confused I dropped it immediately.

I never heard of anything like that on Facebook...but it is annoying with all the applications but Myspace isstarting to get a lot of them...and you get emails for every little bit of info. Its ok...not any better than myspace...they are equals to me.

You cannot edit your facebook profile. It is a standard thing.

Applications are annoying.

And you might wanna be careful about what pictures you put on there, people find them and like give them to the police/schooladmin/personyouworkfor and getting people who posted them in trouble...
It's been happening a lot at my school, the principal finds something on facebook and he brings hell on ya.

You can turn those e-mails off though. Just go into 'Account' or something.

I've never had anything happen to me like that on facebook.
You can't have layouts and sparkly graphics.
BUT you can add applications to display fun stuff such as buttons [add flair app] and bumper stickers [bumper sticker app] aswell as fun games that you can play against your friends [such as, cops and robbers, pirates vs. ninjas] etc.

I hate people who just add application after application and don't bother to disable profile stuff on it, so you go on their profile and your computer has a heart attack because there's so many things to load.
There is an option to have the application and not have it on your profile, like jeeeez.

I Hated facebook....

You had to put the city you lived and what school in it....that made me very uncool with it.

Myspace i like i don't have to put my city in and it was much easier to navigate imho.

But i've never heard of any thing like that happening there...

Facebook is only for people I actually know (or trust very much) and that is why I have no problem putting my information in.

I had both a Myspace and a Facebook for a while before switching to just a Facebook a while back.

Advantages to Facebook: 'safer' in the sense that there are more privacy controls and little to no phishing; cool apps to add; (personally) photos are easier to manage; 'cleaner' look to it (personally, not as many crazy things going on unless you or a friend adds like ten million apps); my computer has not died once with just a Facebook, where Myspace crashed my whole computer mulitple times; Facebook Chat (like AIM but on Facebook); easier control

Disadvantages to Facebook: no different layouts or anything like that (HTML is dissabled)...other than that I can't think of any...

Advantages to Myspace: unique profile; better music area

Disadvantages to Myspace: phishing, spam, viruses, crazy look to it sometimes

Basically, I like Facebook more. But all of this is just what I think.

I really hate that On some you just press skip when it tells you to invite friends and you can see the results right away. I wish all of them were like that.

But in general I like facebook better than myspace. For the amount of time im going to be on sites like that, facebook works best for me. And Ive never had any problems with it.

I only use my myspace...well, never anymore. Not since I got my facebook. I like it a lot more than myspace.

To me, it's safer. I've never once gotten a piece of spam or had somebody try to phish my account (which happened multiple times on myspace) and I've had it for almost a year now. With myspace because it's HTML based, I always felt slightly vulnerable.

A previous poster mentioned that you have to include your city and school. You don't, actually. You can give a major town in your state and have that as your location instead. Several of my friends list Concord as their location/network and they live almost 100 miles away. You can always lie about that, nobody's making you tell the truth.

The layouts are cleaner than myspace, unless somebody has added a gazillion apps and forgotten to disable the profile part of them. I like facebook chat, too. I always use it because not all of my friends have AIM. I have AIM for friends that don't have facebook, but other than that, I use facebook chat.

I just re-did my entire flair board. And I need to send out more flair because I'm down below 300 flair credits. I've been known to go through that many on a day where I go flair hunting.

There's also the fact, that most people's exact location does not have a network.
Mine for example does not (even though it's huge, and bigger than the network I'm in. There's tons of petitions for one though) so I'm stuck in it. One time someone IM'd me and was like 'You don't live in Saint John' and I'm like... yeah, I know, but there's no network for mine.
