If we buy Express Passes while at the park, would we go in a separate entrance for rides and then have to wait in a line with the other Express Pass people? Or, are they like Fast Passes in the sense that you can basically walk right onto the ride?

The participating attractions have a separate line for Express riders. You would have to wait with other Express users which is usually considerably less time than the standby lines. Every line is clearly marked so you shouldn't have any problems.

No time at Disney have I ever walked on utilizing FastPass. Both Universal and Disney try to keep their Express and FastPass waits under 15 minutes.

For us our waits were maybe 5 LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG minutes. It's the only way to go:banana:
