I'm going to be taking BF here for his birthday (a Friday night), then off to Pat O'Briens for the dueling piano bar. However, I couldn't get a reservation for Emerils until 9pm. That's a little late, but, we are staying onsite. Can I get priority seating with my hotel key like I can at other on-site restaurants?

Secondly, just wondering, does Emerils honor the AAA discount?

Finally, how late is too late to get a table at Pat O'Briens? I would hate to get there and have standing room only for the entertainment....

Thanks in advance....Jo

Unfortunately, you can't use your room key for priority seating at Emeril's. Having a 9pm reservation means that you'll get done with dinner probably between 10pm and 10:30pm which will probably be too late to get a table in the piano bar. Although, as its just two of you, you could see if you could join another couple already at a table. When we were there last May, as there was 2 of us, we'd invite other couples to join us at our table. As they would leave, other couples were invited to the vacated seats.

Another possibility is to see what reservation times are available for RPR's Tchoup Chop, which is also an Emeril's restaurant.

Agree with PP ... no discounts, no priority seating @ Emeril's. A little late to be showing up at Pat O's at 11:30 or so and not getting SRO.

I checked Open Table, and you're looking at 9 pm for Tchoup Chop as well.

Two other options here: ask the concierge at the HRH to get you a reservation. That might work.

Or, you can get a 7:15 reservation at The Palm at the HRH. I may even be able to find our "free glass of wine w/entree" coupons for you. :goodvibes

ChisJo, why not plan on Emeril's (better yet, Tchoup Chop) for another night? There is no way that I would want to spend that amount of money and rush the meal to get to Pat O'Briens.

Just a little reminder, too, that your room key will not get you priority seating on weekend nights, holidays or any other "special event" type of nights (like NBA City while a basketball game is going on :rolleyes1 ).

I've never had a problem with using my room key for priority seating on weekends. Is this something new?

Never been to the Palm and we are staying at the HRH - what's this place like?

Or - what if we ate at Pat O'Briens? How is their food? Can we eat in the area of the Dueling Pianos?

No, I don't think so. It's in the fine print in the the hotel info book at the HRH -- maybe it's not in the fine print at the other onsite hotels' books.

I've seen it there since I've been going to the HRH for about the last five, six years. I usually travel in late September or early May and rarely ever need any kind of reservations anyway, but this last trip we took (early May), there were quite a few cheerleading groups at the parks. Friday night at CityWalk, busy, our key did not work for us at HRC or POB (for dinner).

The next night, Saturday, I figured we'll just call the dining button on the HRH phone and make some ressies. They initially tried to just get us to use our room key for priority seating until we told them what had happened the night before and, sure enough, it's written in their little book in the rooms. They did "remember" that, oh, yeah, the room key doesn't work on certain nights for ressies. I tried to make a dining ressie for NBA City for later that evening and was told by the dining hotline (from the hotel phone) that I couldn't make ressies because a couple big basketball games were going on.

Just on a whim, I called 411 on my cell phone, called NBA City direct and had no trouble just booking a reservation on my own.

Not for nothing, I think with the decline of Disney dining and more and more folks traveling off site for decent food at a decent price, we're going to see the CityWalk restaurants get busier and busier. I'll tell you: I'll never leave home again without all the restaurants' direct lines after our May trip.

We love O'Briens!!! My avatar for years was a hurricane from O'Briens, but it also included my cigarette -- which I'm a nonsmoker now, so that avatar is bye-bye!

All kidding aside, the food here is really good. We usually get the blackened redfish, but we've also had the jumbalaya, maufalettas, poboys with crawfish, crawfish etouffee nachos and burgers. It's always a must-do for us.

Hope you enjoy if you guys decide to go!

I have to admit that we have not eaten at The Palm yet. I suggested it because it sounds like you want to do something nice. You can find more info on their website: http://www.thepalm.com/

You can eat at Pat's if you want to have fun, but I would not expect anything gourmet there. :)

Happy planning.
