Are there benches at the top of the hub that give a clear view of the Castle & Matterhorn? Is this location too close...too far away...or just right?

You see...I'm thinking of staking out a viewing spot for the parade at 5:30, then just staying put for the Remember Fireworks.

Would the curb be better for us short people, or would we be able to see ok standing back by the bench?

If we go with the curb option....there are 8 of us...I'm thinking of folding, then spreading out our neat sheets on the curb (room for 4 each). At least 4 of us will always be at the viewing spot at all times with the other 4 out and about....taking turns while we wait.

I imagine it will get really crowded just before the show, so how early should all of us be at our viewing location?

If I were to stake out a place for both, I wouldn't get a bench in the middle of the hub (they face in and you can't see the parade well) or a bench facing outward from the middle of the hub (you can't see the fireworks at its best). Instead I'd try a bench right outside of the Plaza Inn (to the right of the end of Main Street) facing the hub, which would give you a very good location for both.

if you have two nights to see the fireworks one of them you should try and be on the outer part of the hub in front of the castle, but facing the castle (if that makes sense?), because it is really cool to be sitting or standing there when the fireworks go off all around you, almost like you are in the middle of them. I actually got this spot by accident one time,so the next time I went and dh wanted to see, we purposely chose this area and he thought it was awesome. . . we were lucky enough to have a perfect view of the castle without anything blocking, so that part is tricky. . .

as for the benches above near the RR station, well I think those are priority seating, as I've seen them roped off before. . .

when we stay at the hilton we stay at the concierge level and watch the fireworks from their lounge, granted they don't have the music but you get a decent view and man when you can see the flames in front of the castle clear as day, gives you a pretty good idea just how high those suckers go!

oh, one time me and my son were sitting on the teacups, waiting for the ride to start and we had the fireworks on both sides, the castle side and tt side, we probably looked pretty funny cuz we kept swinging our heads back and forth, we really did not know which way to look first. ..
