I'm ready to book on this 7 for 4 promo but I have a couple questions. Can anyone tell me what the cancellation policy is? I know I've read it somewhere before but can't seem to find it. Also, am I right that you have till you make the last payment to take the insurance out through Disney? The dates work out for us with this but June is a long time off and I was thinking maybe we might get a pin that would be a better deal before then.

With a package it has to be paid off 45 days before arrival. After that it is $100 cancellation fee up to 6 days. Then from 5 days until arrival it is a $200 cancellation fee.

I do not know about the insurance. Maybe someone else will know. Happy booking!

If you don't want the insurance, either don't add it, or have it removed ASAP. I have read on various posts you have 14 days to cancel that. But can't speak from experience.
Or I guess by taking it out you mean adding it to the package. I would just ask them when booking when you can add it later.

I just made a reservation and I was told that we could take out the insurance up to the last payment. Once the package is paid for we no longer had the option of getting the insurance. We chose not to take it because she told us that if we wanted to cancel, we could just move our $200 deposit to another time and not lose it, even up to the day before we arrive---which really wouldn't be canceling, it would just be changing it.

I was told today that you can add the insurance by the last payment date.

A lot has already been answered. I do want to say that you can get better trip insurance for less money from other companies than Disney for your Disney trip. Mousesavers recommends one broker and the Unofficial Guide recommends another broker. I don't have either close by, but both are excellent sources and I'd trust either in regards to Disney to the ends of the earth.

Also, if you make any kind of change that will lower the cost of your package after the 45 day mark, there is a $50 change fee. I *think* that is for moving dates also.

Stealing this from mousesavers (cancellation policy):
You must pay a $200 deposit within 14 days of reserving your package.

Final payment of the entire remainder is due 45 days prior to check-in. You have to pay in full right away if you are booking less than 45 days in advance.

You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. From 6 to 44 days in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $100. If you cancel 5 days or less in advance, you pay a $200 penalty.

Any changes that result in a rate change, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a differently-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

Beware - WDTC usually adds nonrefundable travel insurance to your package by default. If you don't want it, tell them while you are making the reservation. Once you hang up, it's too late. You can add the insurance later if you wish, up until your final payment is due. You can also buy travel insurance directly and usually save some money that way.

Thanks Everyone! I did finally book our package and found out exactly what mousesavers said. You only have 14 days from the day you book the package to take the insurance through Disney. I did buy the insurance through Disney only because it was easy. I've never bought from any of the others before. WIth our parents getting up there in age we feel safer having the insurance.

Ok, I guess I didn't read the mousesavers quote on insurance very well. But the cm told me that I only have 14 days from the time I book the package to buy the insurance, not till I make the last payment like someone else said.

As AP holders we have always done room only reservations, so I was confused about the insurance as well. I left it on but am unsure. Should I keep it or cancel it? What does it really cover?

If you need the details I would look on Disney's website and see if they offer it, or call and ask for the details.
The insurance they sell is through Travel Guard, and they do have a website. I don't know if what Trave Guard lists on their web site is exactly what Disney sells or if there are variations.
I have purchased it in the past when we too were traveling and had aging parents.
The travel insurance does cover many things. It's like any insurance, when you need it you are really glad you have it.
Travel insurance usually covers things like trip interruptions, cancellations, illness during trips, lost or stolen baggage, etc. But I don't know the details on how much or specific to circumstances.
And truthfully with the way airlines operate today, I would probably feel better having it.

I could of swore they said I had 14 days from the day I bought the package to purchase it but maybe I misunderstood. Dang. I would of waited to purchase it later if I would of known it was the way you said. I was planning on buying it anyway but I know its non-refundable and thats why I questioned them about it. We ususally never book this early and theres a chance that something might come up and we have to change our plans.
