Is the Dinosaur Ride a roller coaster with drops or is it just a ride??

My son wants to go on it, but we are all "fraidy cats" that hate roller coasters. Even Splash Mountain can be too much for some of us.

Thank you for the help.

I actually worked at Dinosaur for a while and can tell you that it's more like a very bumpy jeep ride with dinosaurs popping out at you. I think the darkness combined with the dinosaurs is the most traumatic part of the ride for kids (not the motion). But most kids love it.

There are no big drops like on Splash Mountain or on a rollercoaster. The cars are on a track that is bumpy so the riders get shaken up a bit. There are also big, loud, scary dinsosaurs that jump out at you. My girls were 6 and 8 at the time we rode it and they were okay with it but I guess it depends on the child.

Actually, for the record, the track is not at all bumpy but completely flat. The Time Rover you are riding in has all kinds of hydrolics (SP?) that make it seem like you are moving on uneven ground. Pretty cool, huh??

I hated the motion of it, plus it is dark so you can't see where you are going, I think there is one drop, but I hated the ride... my wife likes coasters and most any ride, and thought dinosaur was a little much even for her(she gave me black and blue marks on my arm), in the ride photo, I look mad and she looks scared.

I am not a roller coaster lover..I do enjoy Splash Mountain (except the drop but I close my eyes)..but I did NOT like Dinosaur. There is no drops or coaster-like movements, but it is SO bumpy that after awhile it gets to be too much. I get motion sickness easily and that sure made me green :crazy2:

Depending on how big your children are as it is dark, there are strobe lights flashing, its loud, and dinousaurs jump out at you..you may find you like it. It doesnt hurt to try it...maybe if one or two of you want to try it before the others to get an idea of it..

Have fun!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

My son is daredevil...will ride anything he is tall enough for, including roller coasters, splash, and tower.
Dinosaur was not his favorite...the dino's pop out at you, and it is VERY LOUD!!! I think it was the noise that really bothered him.
But I always say try everything atleast once, you never know!

I am not to good with Roller Coasters either but this ride is nothing of the sort. Like stated above - its dard and bumpy. Just the car rocks. Its a lot of fun! Things do jump out at you but thats it.

All they put on you is a seat belt at your waist - thats a reason to know its not all that bad!

My 5-year-old niece was very traumatize (she says "dramatized") on this ride. She was ok on BTMR and Splash, but the loud noise and darkness of this one really bothered her.

Thanks everyone for your input. We are fine with this type of ride its the ones with the drops, loops, ect that we just can't do.

Thank you!

Can you ride Star Tours? If that is too much motion for you, I wouldn't do Dinosaur. I think of Dinosaur as Star Tours on wheels plus a few more bumps.

I would definitly recommend you riding it first because it isn't fast but VERY VERY Bumpy !!!

Plus it is dark and loud at times....... my boys (10 & 6) love it.
