I called MS last night, please tell me this isn't true.
We are cking in on a Tues. my DH is checking in on Fri. We want to get the dining plan, so I called MS to take my DH off the reservations, because they had him cking in on Tues too.
I told them why I was taking him off the reservations and once I know for sure that it is Fri or Thursday that he is cking in { we are thinking of changing his plane tix to Thurs.}, I would call back and add him then to the ressie with the Thursday or Fri check in date.

MS told me it doesn't matter when DH checks in if he is on the reservation I have to pay the full 7 days of dining for him, even though he'll only be there 4 or 5 days for the dining.
They said if I take him off the reservations he won't be able to use ME, which I know. That's why I want to add him on with his correct check in date.

So is it true, do I have to pay for my DH dining plan starting on Tues, even though he isn't checking in until Friday?

From the Dvc website - "Every guest in the room must purchase the Disney Dining Plan for the duration of the reserved stay"

It means you have more points to use at premium restaurants!

Yes, that is the way it has always been. The credits are pooled on your account and not tied to each person. So, the rest of you could use his TS credits for a 2-credit signature dining meal and his QS credits for an extra meal one day if you do go with the dining plan.

That said, have you done the math for the dining plan? We no longer consider it a good value and do much better by paying out of pocket, especially now that Tables in Wonderland is available to DVC members.

Remember that the Dining Plans are not controlled by DVC, nor were they designed to be a "value." They were designed as a way to prepay and compete with the popular "all-inclusive" prepaid vacation. They were designed fromthe standard cash family guests that normally all travel together for 5 to 7 days at a cash room.

I have never found the Dining Plans to save any money over our normal dining habits after doing the math...I simply use the TiW card, and if that wasn;t available, I'd out-of-pocket with no plan.

Question:
Can you split your stay into two different reservations? Do not include him on the first reservation but then add him to the second.

MS will no longer split reservations to allow for different dining plans or guests. In order for them to do this under the current rules, they would need to change resorts or room size/view.
