? about designs and how to do it

I have been looking at everything on here and also searching pics, clipart etc online.

I would imagine that in order to create the wonderful designs here you have to use a program to do that. I'd like to try and make some of my own. What do you use to manipulate your pics, especially to be able to personalize them with names.

Would love it if anyone was willing to give me a few pointers. I have an idea for a MNSSHP party tshirt half formed in my head but not enough to ask someone else to do it and make a bunch of changes. I'd like to be able to play around.

Hi! I have been using Photoshop CS4 for a long time making invitations and baby annoucements, so I am pretty experienced. Basically, you need a program along those lines and some working knowledge of layers and clipping masks. The rest is kind of trial and error. If you are a true beginner you can google what it is you'd like to accomplish and tutorials pop up.
