I have reservations for Hojos for 9/25-10/02 for $762 but I was checking around again and I could get the Desert Inn for $515. Even if the Ent rate came out for Hojos, it still would be more. So I am thinking about switching but I really don't know much about Desert Inn. I did a search and found some info, but not a lot. So all you Hojo fans out there, would you switch for the price difference?? Also, I was wondering about how Desert Inn does their billing. Will they charge my card when I make the reservation, or when we check in or when we check out or when?? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I just came back from a stay there, I felt it was an OKAY hotel. The suite has enough room for 5 adults and the beds are good and the suite itself showed some signs of aging. However, the good things about this hotel is that there is a Dennys ( 10% off if you show them your key card ) and iHop right next to it and of course Disneyland right across the street meaning I had a good view for the fireworks show ( probably the same for HOJO ). I would recommend you to stay here, if you are not looking for a luxurious hotel and looking ( kind of ) cheap rates and they do charge you when you check out. Overall I did not have any problems with this hotel it was a good stay and would make reservations again. Oh and a parking tip! If you will be traveling in more than one car the hotel only as one assigned parking per suite/room. Hope this helped and good luck!

I prefer Desert Inn because it's closer, they always give you a microwave, and they have some sort of breakfast (nothing fancy though!). I dragged a small microwave to Hojo's when we stayed and I wasn't any more impressed with the room. We were there in winter so the pirate cove thing was pointless for my son. But Desert Inn has an indoor pool, so that's cool to use year round.

And when it all comes down to it, $$ savings always wins out for me, so the decision seems like a no brainer.

They won't charge until you check out, I believe. You could always book now, then see if you can get an Ent. rate at Hojo's and cancel one or the other later.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and booked the rooms at the Desert Inn last night. We have a Parlor Suite B which is really just two adjoining rooms but it was a little cheaper than booking two separate rooms. I am going to keep my Hojo reservations for a while and just see what happens. I still have until Sept so there is plenty of time to make up my mind. If I can get the Ent rates for my entire stay at Hojo, I might consider keeping those rooms, but as of right now, I think we will probably end up at the Desert Inn. A $247 per room difference is just too big of a difference to ignore. Thanks again.

If I remember right, the suites at the Desert inn are close to the front of the hotel above the covered parking spots (it's VERY long), so even bigger bonus there. I know for sure the single rooms are way far in the back.

for our upcoming trip ( April) i had booked a room at desert inn ( did change to camelot) but wehn i asked about the billing they will hcarge the fist night 2 days in advance. Hope you have a great time

Desert Inn beds are good. The refrigerator was a blessing for cold waters and cold diet cokes!!! And the Suites are ample in space!! The Employees are the nices any where. They have carry on luggage lockers

Here is a hotel map! That shows closest to DL Entrance.

I be staying there evey trip to DL!!!

I just checked out of Desert Inn yesterday. I was not charged anything until checkout.

I generally like to stay at Camelot, Carousel or Tropicana but will stay at Desert Inn when price wins out. I only stay at HoJo when I can't get a decent rate anywhere else. I'm not a big HoJo fan, I prefer to stay closer to the park, have both a fridge and a microwave, and a continental breakfast, even though its not much, coffee and a danish are enough to get me started for the morning.

We stayed 4 nights last week, March 10 - 14. The hotel was great, The rooms we big and nice, however...... the bathroom always had ants in it, and the water was never hot always room temp. The people were rude at the desk, and the maids were pulling maid carts along our floor and it was super loud at 6am every morning. Other guests allowed their children to run up and down the halls yelling and laughing at 7 am. It was irritating. The parks didn't open last week till 9am so we would try to sleep till at least 8, and we never got too. The walk to the gates is about 5 minutes or less. We loved that.

We have this issue at every hotel we've stayed at. The opposit is also true. Those that sleep in then come back very late at night making a ruckus as well. So is the nature of going to DL! :confused3

Part of the morning noise is because of people going down for the cont. breakfast. We try to remind my son to be quiet, but there's only so much you can do, short of duct tape, to keep an excited child quiet about the upcoming day at Disneyland! :rotfl:

Are you sure you stayed at Desert Inn? That's EXACTLY what we experienced staying at the Castle Inn, which I was soooooo excited about!!!! We HATED it there and will never go back, even if they are the only hotel/motel with space, we will reschedule or stay farther away!! I even complained to the management and heard NOTHING back!!!!

Ummm, no I would have to disagree with this whole post. This is not the issue at every hotel, the only time we've heard maid carts was at the Castle Inn, never anywhere else. The HoJo has carpeted indoor corridors, the Peacock has the same, the Crowne Plaza has the same, the Tropicana has outdoor corridors but the maids aren't running around before 9 am. And it is possible for children to stay quiet, unless they are under the age of 5 they should know not to run up and hallways and make lots of noise. And yes, I have children and no I did allow them to run amock thru hallways when we were staying in hotels.

I have to agree with you here about the children. We have one son who just turned 10 while we were in Disneyland. We have been taking him 2 - 3 times a year since he was 16 months old and we have never ever allowed him to run amok up and down halls and scream and yell ever, no matter what time it was.

We also had stayed at catle inn in 2000 and experienced the same thing as the poster had said above, we have never been back there.

I understand the excitement, but at what level do parents have respect for others staying in the hotel. I have always managed to keep my son very quiet in hotels, and believe me this kid has traveled a lot. He was taught very early on to be quiet and respect others when we are in hotels. You would have had to witness it yourself, we were on the third floor and at about 6:45 - 7am these 2 very loud mouthed girls were screaming and yelling and running up and down the hallway and then their dad starts yelling at them as loud as he could "Come on back to the room girls, thats about enough" and they still continues. Then about 7am sharp the maid cart started up and the girls continued to yell and run around the halls. Totally uncalled for, and this behaviour has no excuse, and I'm talking about the parents. Unfortunatly these people were in the hotel the same nights as us, my husband wanted to leave a note on their door but never did.

You Should have call down to the Lobby and complained and ask for more Quiet! You would have had it!!

We are going to be staying here on our first family trip. I am glad to hear that there are people who are happy with it. I only chose it because I have 2 kids and my fil has had some minor back issues and thought this would be good because of the location!

Wait, you're agreeing with me right? Since you quoted me it read funny. :)

Exactly!!! OMG, we were in a hotel at the beginning of Feb and the people NEXT DOOR to us were soooooooooooooooo loud! They woke me up at 5 am!!! TV up so loud I could hear it, kids yelling and fighting, banging on the walls etc etc. Finally DBF got up at 8 and pounded on the wall between our rooms, the kids yelled clearly thru the walls "it wasn't me, I didn't do that" Some of their arguments were "I don't wanna wear a poncho" " I don't CARE if it's gonna RAIN!!! "There are only FIVE fruit snacks left?!" "Well, IIIIII want them, I don't WANT to share!!!!" "THAT'S breakfast???!!!! I TOLD YOU I WANT CEREAL!!!!!!!!!! go get me cereal!!!!!" etc etc etc....They had the Disney channel on in one room and the weather channel in another. Now mind you, it's 5 in the morning, we got in the night before at midnight so we were tired. It's a long drive after you've worked all day. They stayed the EXACT days we did, this is what we woke up to every day. Oh, I didn't mention the door slamming as they would go to get their free breakfast, then it was quiet for a while, we would doze back off only to hear SLAM!!!!!!!! when they came back to eat in the room.....so ridiculous!!!!!

You Should have call down to the Lobby and complained and ask for more Quiet! You would have had it!!

Uhhh, nope, not everywhere. We did ask for quiet, from the lobby and from our concierge, from security that they have in the parking lot at night, nothing changed...nothing! We also complained to the manager and again, nothing. We already had this place booked for 2 other weekends so so we back a couple weekends ago, checked in and we were told we were upgraded but only for 1 night. Because the place was overbooked. We thought it was because of our crappy visit in Feb but no, they told us we had to move the next day. :scared1: So ya no help from the hotel at all!!!
