For those of you who have flown Delta and left your luggage at the port, does the port serve as your check-in so that you can by-pass the ticket counter or kiosk? Is it like checking the luggage with a skycap outside the airport terminal, or do you still have to check in?

It serves as your baggage check-in only, we still had to get our boarding passes by checking in at the gate. So yes, it's basically like checking your bags with the skycap outside, you can bypass the ticket counter and head straight to the gate once you get to the airport. :D

Do you have to have purchased your air tickets through Disney or is through Delta ok? Our flight leaves at 5 p.m.

I've never purchased air through Disney and have used the baggage check in at the port twice, once when using Disney transfers and once when using a town car transfer.

Be advised that the official DCL policy is that you can't check your bags with your airline at the port unless you have purchased DCL transfers. This is rarely enforced... but you may run into a CM on a bad day!!!

Does anyone know if Delta has returned to the Port?

It was so wonderful when they were there so the porter could take our luggage from the boat storage area directly to the counter outside the Port! We didn't have to do anything but board the bus and head to our gate upon arrival at Orlando International. It was the ONLY airline missing from the Port when we cruised in February. Sad.

We cruised last summer and I agree, the bag check service is wonderful. The porter brings your stuff right to the airline counter.

But, just like at an airport, check your tags to be sure they're tagged to the right city!! Our flight home to Las Vegas went through Dallas & I was handed tags that said Dallas. I had to ask the guy to fix it & tag them all the way to Las Vegas. While he was changing all 8 luggage tags a second skycap accidently starting putting someone else's tags on our bags!! I had to raise my voice, No, those aren't theirs, those are my bags, to get the guy to stop & take them off. I watched both skycaps very closely untill all of our bags were on the truck with my tags on them. Hope this helps!
