My dd who is 8 had the vaccine for chicken pox when she was little. She's been running high fever since Christmas Eve. Took her to the doctors on Thursday. The said she has an ear infection and upper Respitory Infection. Now today she has red blister type bumps on her belly, back, head, and around her ears, few on her arms and legs. Could this be chicken pox? Can any body help me?

Is she taking any antibiotics? Could be a reaction to those. And there are TONS of viral infections that cause rashes too. It could be a mild case of the chicken pox as well but I tend to think it's just a viral rash, my daughter gets those with fevers too.

Hope she's feeling better soon!

I'd call her doctor immediately. She should probably be seen to determine what is causing the rash. I hope she's feeling better soon! :)

I'd call the doctor for sure. DD had the vaccine but got chicken pox anyway. It was a very mild case. Take care. :)

I called the doctor and they said it could be a viral rash or a mild case of chicken pox. They said to call on Monday to let them know how she is. She is on antibitics also.

Good to hear you called the Doctor, who knows sometimes.

DS got the Chicken Pox and he was vaccinated. It was so weird, you could literally look at his face or back and watch the "pox" appear, he broke out all over in just a few minutes. Small little bumps that almost appeared like small water blisters?

Although he had a LOT of pox, he never acted sick, and never appeared to itch. It ran it's course in a few short days due to the vaccine.

Watch after you give the antibiotics and see if the rash gets worse. My youngest had penicillian when she was a baby and developed a rash, it would get much worse after she had her dose. If it seems to get worse I'd call the Dr back and see if they think it might be a reaction and maybe switch to something else.

I'd also be concerned about a reaction to the antibiotics. Could you take her by the pharmacy (since they're open right now) and get the pharmacist to look at it? There's also a test you can do to see if a rash is an allergy or something else. I think that if you scratch it and the skin stays discolored for a few seconds, it's usually an allergy. Or you could just give Benadryl and see if it goes away. It's good to always have liquid Benadryl on hand anyway. The liquid form is absorbed very quickly, especially if you hold it on your tongue as long as you can before swallowing.

This is so strange! My son just came up to me and showed me about 5 red welts on his body that have a little hole in the center. He also has some small red bumps. I know it's not an allergic reaction, because I've had those dozens of times. My son also had the vaccine, but I called the doctor anyway. He just told me that about 30% of kids that get the vaccine get a modified form of chicken pox. He wants me to bring him in on Monday if he is worse. The odd thing is, he never had a fever or anything else. He's been acting perfectly normal. The other strange thing is that I don't see any blisters. Just raised red welts with a hole in the center. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
