Ok heres my question. Every year we drive to disney. What we have always done is drive till about 10-11 pm and check into a hotel about a half hour away from disney. Get a good nights sleep...get up....shower....eat....head on over to our hotel and check in and head out to the parks. Only once in 11 years our room has not been ready by 11 am.

Now heres the question. Last year many times late at night when we've come back from the parks and are in the lobby I see people checking in. Like 12:30 .... 1 a.m.

Has anybody here ever checked in the night before your actual ressie say after midnight and we're given your room? This would save on paying for a hotel room to spend the night before we get there the next day. I just hate paying for a full day for my disney room if we arent getting there till 11 p.m. so I'm wondering if my res is for July 3rd if I get there say July 2nd really really late and try and check in at like 1a.m so it would TECHNICALLY be July 3rd by an hour ( :teeth: ) do you think they would even consider it?

Has anybody done this before is what I wanna know

thanks for your help

I have never done this, but I do remember reading a few posts here about people asking if they could do exactly what you proposed. Sorry to disappoint you, but I seem to remember it didn't work out too well for them. I travel frequently for business, and I know that usually you are billed for the night's stay around 4:00am, and I think most hotels have a policy of the absolute earliest time you can check into a room for the next evening (I think most are around 6:00am or so, and even then may be too early without a manager's approval).
Someone else may be able to better answer your question, but from what I recall, I don't think you will be able to do this.
Hope everything works out for you.

I was informed last year by a CM at POFQ that the rooms are considered to be part of theday before until 7am. After 7am the room is considered to be on a new day.
So if you check in before 7am you would have to pay for an extra night.
This upcoming trip I get to Disney around 5am and am going to go to the food court, have coffee, breakfast and hopefully get a room after 7am.

cndtourguide is right. If you check in before 7am you will pay for a full night. Your best bet is to check in after 7am to get the most value for your money. We checked in just after midnight at AKL in 2003 and were charged a full day's stay.

I have checked in at 6:30 AM and gotten my room. I think any earlier than that and you run the risk of paying for an additional day.

Exactly! I've checked in after midnight several times, and always been charged for the night.

We have checked in at 1am..but our reservation was for that night..you don't get a free nights room.

Years we have driven to WDW, I'ld time the arrival for the earliest like before 5am. We ask when our room would be available, change into our bathing suits, hit the food court and swim, leaving our suitcases in storage. We settle after the long drive, 22 hours, hate stopping along the way for rest, can rest once we get to the World and being there, whether tired, the excitement justifies driving straight through. Our room is usually ready by 10am, we go up, have bell services bring the suitcases and cahnge and head out for a day of fun coming back in the heat of the day for more swimming, lunch and a 2 hour power nap and we feel like new. Never tired on disney property!!
