Hi there~

This August will be my first time using an Annual Pass to Disney World. I have an AP rate at the WL which I book in anticipation of having my AP. I know that if I buy the AP here at home I only get a voucher, I will need to go into a park or DTD to activate it. My question is this... Magical Express will be dropping us off at our resort, will I be allowed to check in with the voucher or will I have to go to the park first? I am just trying to figure out logistics, I really don't want to haul the kids and our carryons over to MK to activate my AP to haul them all back to WL to check in to then turn around and head back to MK. Anyone have any experience with this situation or input?

Thanks!

I do believe you need to activate it. But just know that if you are going to do that in the Magic Kingdom area - the place is the TTC not the MK itself.

You can use your voucher. They may ask you to show your actual AP to the front desk when you do get it activated. I've checked in many times for AP rate and only twice have been asked to see my AP. :)

You can do it at the Guest Services window at the MK, it's right outside before you go through the turnstiles. I have checked in with vouchers before, no problem.

I've never been asked to show my AP when checking in, but I understand if they ask, a voucher will be acceptable.

I've also showed my voucher before I went to the park and there was no problem.

I asked this very question 2 weeks also, as I am arriving an 11:30 pm flight. They checked with WL and they said the voucher card would be acceptable. It take a couple of weeks to get it so do not wait to long and it costs $3 to get it mailed.

As it turns out this is an extended hours for MK so it is open till 3:00AM so I may just go over and get it and the rest of my families will call AP at guest services at the ticket window and also pick up our DME, after checking in.

The voucher card also lets you get onto the AP site.

You can actually check into a Disney resort with an annual pass rate and absolutely NO annual pass at all. Not even a voucher.

What will happen is your resort stay will go through at the rack rate. Until you come back with a valid annual pass. Then everything will go back to the annual pass rate.

No one should ever expect to check in and not be asked to see an annual pass. If you don't have it, explain that you are either getting it the next day or have the voucher. The notation will be made and then cleared when you do present the actual one.
