We are scheduled to fly on the red-eye (the night before our land/sea cruise) from the west coast. We are considering changing the red-eye to the previous day and staying in an airport hotel.

Has anyone ever done this?
How does this affect transfers?
Any other issues I haven't thought of?

Thanks,

The main thing to consider is the cost to change the flight and the cost of the hotel room at night.

I think I would go for the change. Nothing like getting a good night's rest before a vacation. You might be very tired if you take the red-eye in. You'll be dragging the whole day and have to turn in early and miss and the nighttime fun!!!!

Many people stay at the Hyatt at the airport and find good rates on either hotwire or priceline. We have stayed at the Hyatt before and it very nice. Could be on the expensive side if you do not find a discount.

We used to fly out the day of our cruise, but ever since 9/11 we havebeen flying in the night before. We book an airport hotel via Hotwire or Priceline and get some great deals ($28 to $33, including free shuttle and sometimes breakfast). We don't have to worry about the transfers because we use Happy Limo instead of the DCL buses. It costs more in the long run to fly in a day ahead, but we like having the "safety zone" of an extra day...the relaxation is worth the extra hotel fee.

I booked for July 2003 and later decided to add a earlier arrival and stay at the MCO Hyatt. I advised DCL that we wanted the earliest flight and after the cruise we would be staying an extra 2 days on property and wanted the last flight out of MCO. DCL advised that it would cost an extra $50.00 per person to do this. I am paying the extra as it will be great not to get up at 3:00 a.m. to fly in the morning of our cruise.
