I'm planning a trip this coming Memorial Weekend. There are tons of info on the web about nearby Hotels and Resorts, but if there's one thing I've learned from this board , it's that you can't replace personal experience.

Does anyone know of a good resort or hotel, nearby to the Park? I welcome any insights and good/bad experiences. Other links would also be helpful. Thanks in advance...Mark

We haven't made it to CP, but hope to one day. Try www.thrillnetwork.com. Find the Forums at the top of the page and drill through the boards. They have topics for Parks, Rides, Trip Reports and more. There's plenty of CP info there.

I can't help, just thought I'd bump you up. I used to go to Cedar Point when I lived in Michigan, the Magnum was the very first (big)roller coaster I went on! Have fun! :)

I suggest you stay onsite since you are allowed early entry. That extra hour is huge since the lines at CP get very, very long. Early entry is only good for a few of the main coasters but those are the ones that get the humongous lines. We stayed at the Breakers Hotel and really enjoyed it. It was pricey but you basically walked out your door and you were in the park.

Towncrier a wonderful DIS'er has had a Cedar Point Memorial Day weekend meet type thing for a few years now.

We have gone to Cedar Point on that weekend for the past two years, and its fabulous.

We stay on site at Breakers Express, and utilize the 1/2 hour free time for onsite express. We were able to get one ride on Top Thrill or Mellinum Force.

Dragster is fabulous, and worth waiting for!

There is a nice Fairfield Inn very close to the park - I stayed there in August and would stay there again if I didn't stay in one of the hotels "inside" the park.

umm cedar point is closed for the yr now
. We were there for the last week it was open for halloween..
they do have a new hotel that just open. suppose to be a huge indoor water park. if you go to the web site for CP i am sure there is coupons for the new place.
We stayed at the clarion. near the park and malls.. center of everything.. indoor pool, etc. even room service on the weekends.

The new hotel that was just built is called the "Great Wolf Lodge". If you google it the web site will come up. I haven't stayed there but heard it's an awesome hotel. The water park is so big people stay there and never leave the hotel for a couple days there is so much to do. The Hotel Breakers are good also.

We visit every year and stay onsite at the Sandcastle Suites. It's nice and very convenient, but expensive.

We love Cedar Point and my husband can't wait to get his next thrill ride fix in the Spring!

Cedar Point has 4 "onsite" hotels. Breakers, Breakers Express, Sancastle Suites, and Castaway Bay. Castaway Bay just opened in the past few months. It has a huge indoor waterpark. We haven't stayed there since it has been redone (it used to be a Raddisson) but it looks very nice. Breakers and Sandcastle Suites are within short wakling distance to the parks. Breakers Express and Castaway Bay are on the end of the causeway leading to Cedar Point, too far to walk, I don't know if they have a shuttle or not. They also have a campground that has little cabins on the lake. That is also within close walking distance. The Great Wolf Lodge that a previous poster mentioned is not owned by Cedar Point and it is about 4-5 miles away. This also looks like a very cool place but it is a little $$$. If you choose not to stay onsite there are a ton of hotels in the area. There is a Best Western that is close that is nice. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

We've stayed at breakers express too. I really liked it. No thrills there of course, it is their value hotel. I do like that it has interior hallways/entrance doors[

umm cedar point is closed for the yr now
and your point is?

We stayed at Breakers and really enjoyed the fact that you walk out your door and you are there ! It's great if you need to take breaks (if you have small kids)....It is a bit pricey, but very convenient, it was very busy when we went and the road leading to the park was PACKED and took a long time for those people driving in !

If you don't mind the higher prices, stay at Hotel Breakers. It's so enjoyable to just stroll over to the Park and stroll back when you need a little rest. I've been staying here since I was a kid. Great memories.:D

No hotel input from me, but did just want to say we had a wonderful DIS meet there last summer and it is really great. A neat park, lots to do. I have a link to some photos from there in my signature, Riddle-Con. Enjoy.
