???????????about carseats

my ds is 5 and 1/2. he uses a seat belt at home.
question is this...when we get to theworld does he need a carseat according to florida law? itried his question on the transportation board
but got no replies

We went with 4.5 year old dd 3 years ago and she just used a seat belt. We rented a minivan and she ALWAYS sat belted in the back of the van.

According to Dollar last time we rented a car from them you need a childseat or booster for a child under 5. Children over 5 are ok with a seatbelt.
