? about cancelling a ressie?

Hi ...
we are currently booked in a studio at OKW 8/20/05 for 8 nites and we have August use year

my DH is drooling over the free dining plan which begins 8/21/05

we currently have a 7 nite ressie at CB with free dining on hold until 7/7

my newbie question is this ... can i cancel 7 out of 8 nites at OKW?
do i lose any points ... do they get put in holding?
we are 52 days until check in ...

it depends, did you borrow your 2005 aug points to make the ressies?
were they banked points? if they were 2004 banked points you will need to use them by july 31 2006. if they were borrowed 2005 points you will need to bank them by your banking month if you are not going to use them by july. 31, 2006. if they were borrowed from 2006 year, the points will remain in your 2005 use year and cannot be banked. less the 30 days points will go into holding. another option would be to rent your ressies out on the rent/trade board and use the money to pay to stay in a moderate with the free dining.

You don't have to worry about Holding until you are less than 31 days from check-in.

The only question is what Use Year are these points. If they are your August 2005 points -- you've got free sailing. You can use them by the end of next July or bank them.

If they are your August 2004 that were banked for this reservation, you will have to use them by the end of July 2006.

Does the free dining really make staying in a moderate better than a DVC studio? I haven't really paid that much attention to the program.

free dining ... is actually costing us $1300 more than staying DVC ... but we had planned on eating "light" at OKW ... the free dining was too tempting

also cost us 1-day base tix to get the free dining coz we have PAPs

dont know (actually highly doubt) that the program makes $$ sense for us ... more of an emotional decision
