? about borrowed points and a dumb question :)

So I borrowed some points for an Oct. trip this year. Our UY is Oct. so I borrowed some points from 2018 for that ressie. If I were to cancel that trip....I would have to use those borrowed points by Sept. 2018. I get that. Now can you do this? If that trip was cancelled, could I use them for a trip this year? I guess they would be borrowed again? I am sure this can't be done but I thought I would make a fool of myself and ask LOL. TIA

No, they will stay in your 2017 use year and cannot be used before then.

You can only borrow back one year so those points have to stay in your 2018 UY. If there were any current points you used for that reservation then you could borrow those for this year.

You can use them for a trip this (calendar) year provided your trip begins on or after Oct 1, 2017. If you were asking about using them for a trip during your current UY (from now until Sep 30, 2017), then no.

You booked a reservation for sometime in Oct 2017 that you might cancel. You borrowed points from your Oct 2018 UY for that trip. Once borrowed, those points stay in your Oct 2017 UY if you cancel your reservation. They can be used for a stay between Oct 1, 2017 and Sep 30, 2018.
