Since we used our first bunch of points on a cruise, this will be my first attempt at booking a trip home. We want to check in Nov 18th, 2011 for a 1 bedroom LV room at BLT. What is the earliest date I can call to reserve is it Dec 18th, 2010?
Any tips on booking are appreciated as this is my first time. Can I make a room request? I'd like a LV with partial MK view.
Thanks I am excited to start planning our first trip home

Yes, you can book your home resort 11 months prior to the check-in date. So the dates you listed are correct.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about BLT view requests. :confused3

You can make a request but your confirmation will say on it in bold 'requests are not guaranteed'. (I know this because I just got my confirmation email and it states that on it.)

OK Dec 18th is a Saturday. Can you make ressies on a Saturday? Anyone know the Sat hours of member services?

Member Services is open 7 days a week, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. The information is on the Member web site.

On Dec 18, 2010, you can call MS to book your reservation with check-in on Nov 18, 2011, for up to 7 nights.

Yes you can make a room request, but remember it's only a request. You would ask for a north crescent, even number room, high floor. Those rooms are very popular and since there are only two 1BRs per floor that are LV with an MK view they are hard to get. And keep in mind, some of those 1BRs will also be reserved as lockoff 2BRs.

You can check out work2play's thread about BLT views. At the bottom of the first page there is a list of room numbers. The ones ending in 04 and 10 are the 1 BRs with a LV and view of MK. The lower floors have less of a view.

I feel like such a newbie but what is a lock off room?
Some studios that are adjacent to a one-bedroom have doors opening between the studio and the one-bedroom (like hotel rooms that are connected). Disney has the choice of booking these rooms as separate studios and one-bedrooms, or as a "lockoff" two-bedroom. A regular two-bedroom would give you a somewhat bigger second bedroom because you won't have the extra refrigerator in it.
