Howdy folks =========>

For those of you that have booked a cruise through AAA, how was your experience??

Any problems with service/paperwork/documents, etc??

I just did a comparison & if I book the same cruise I now have reservations with via DCL, I will save $215.00.

Just trying to find out if it is worth the hassle to book/cancel/refund & otherwise jump through a hoop like a trained poodle.

Any info is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

We booked with DCL and then transferred our reservation to AAA. You do not need to cancel and rebook. It was quite easy. We did it for the refillable mugs.....there was no price difference and I'm surprised that you are finding one, you might want to ask Disney for a new quote and also get a quote from DU who will monitor your ressie for discounts, etc.

Anyway, we were very dissatisfied with our AAA travel agent who knew absolutely nothing about the Disney Cruise. We knew significantly more than her. Every time we had a question or concern, I would research it, call Disney myself and then have to call her to have her handle whatever it was after I did the legwork. I wouldn't book with AAA again, we are booking our next cruise with DU.

Also, the mugs were nice but we really hardly used them at all. I'm really glad we didn't pay for them!

Thanks for the reply.

FYI, I did try a quote through DU, & they could not even come close (different date, different category, & a LOT more expensive).
After hearing all of the lovely comments about them on this board, I was actually kinda' disappointed.

I'll also call DCL back & see if the rate has changed.

Hmmmmm. & I thought physics in college was hard............ ;)

We originally booked thru DCL and then changed to AAA because we read on this board they were offering $100 ship board credit and free mugs. We had no problems and got our documents on time and all complete. We were quoted same prices via AAA and DCL though. Hope this helps.

We're booked through AAA. I haven't had any problems. We got a terrific rate - plus the drink mugs. My family does drink soda, so I imagine the mugs will be well used. I'm planning to take advantage of the "discount" liquor shots in my mug!
I think the service depends on the agent. Call and talk to one, if you don't like them hang up - call back and chances are you'll get someone else. Or call a different AAA branch.

Good Luck!

we booked through AAA, because the cost was less, also the value of the soda mugs for each member of our family, and you also can get 10 percent off excursion stuff for CC, and you get 10 percent off in one of the shops (can't remember which one) if you spend a total of 75 dollars or more...

We booked through AAA had not issues. We received the mugs and a very nice gift in our stateroom. Each office has cruise specialists as well, so when you call ask for the cruise specialist.

Also, if you need insurance, AAA is one of the few companys that offer pre-exisitng conditions insurance. You will just need to pay for the issurance at the same time you reserve (if you need it).

Good Luck!

We've booked several cruises (8) thru AAA. Like others have said, there are good agents and not so good agents in every office and in all agencies, not just in AAA.

They can also match prices from other TAs if it's in print, so if you see it lower, they can probably meet it.

They have been able to get my cruise price adjusted downward whenever I made them aware of a price drop.

hope that helps

JimB,
If you pop me an e-mail I will give you my agents number. She has consistently beaten every quote for any cruiseline I've ever received. We just booked for 1/18/03 for a great price.

this is our 4th DCL vacation booked thru AAA and we are very satisfied. all the agents we have used have done all the different DCL trips, so are very familiar with the details and if not, they call DCL and find out immediately. they matched or beat the prices of others, especially when you book on one of their special AAA dates. we always got very nice gifts, and this time the week long soda mugs. i booked with a discount group (i.cruise.com) and was very disappointed when they couldn't fulfill their promises about prices and so switched to AAA the last time. They are dependable and you get all kinds of discounts. barb

We've been using our AAA office for over 6 years now. Love them! We do our homework. Our TA looks over her documentation and we watch these boards as well as watching DCL. So far EB has saved us close to $400.00. We love the mugs. CMs filled my mug with water and lime when need be. IMHO, regardless of who you book with - do your homework. Take charge of your own vacation. They are the professionals but it is your money. The more in your pocket up front the easier later on.
