?? about booking cruise using borrowed/banked points

I am hoping to book a 3nt cruise/4nt AKV vacation for Aug. '08 using my points for '08 use year, plus some banked from '07 year and also a few points borrowed from '09. My question is this: I would like all of the borrowed and banked points to go towards the cruise portion first and not to use any of the borrowed or banked points towards the resort portion - is this possible?

Yes - just tell MS what points you want to use for each portion. He/She should follow your instructions. Before you hang up, ask for a status/recap. If there any discrepancies, you can correct them right then.

why would you want to do it this way

Well, this is my logic. Maybe I am missing something or wrong about something:
- Once I book the cruise, those points are out of DVC, and if we cancel the cruise those points cannot be banked. We would have to use them, for example on a Disney resort that is not DVC before the end of the use year.
- Borrowed points cannot be banked, and points that have already been banked from the previous year cannot be banked again. Those points also all would need to be used before the end of the use year.

It makes the most sense to me to use all of the points that MUST be used w/ in that use year for the cruise because once we use points to book the cruise, they must be used w/ in that use year anyway. If we only use regular(not banked or borrowed) points for the AKV portion of the trip, we still have the normal flexibility associated with those points.

I'm glad it made sense and seems logical. I am not 100% confident that I understand yet how everything works! Also, thank you for the tip on how to address this issue when making the reservations!
