Hi all!

We grew up and still live in SoCal, and have been to DLR many, many times (sometimes as AP holders). But I have a question that I can't seem to get an answer for.

We are going to DLR tomorrow, as it's my DH's birthday. We have a $200+ Disney Visa Rewards card to use as well. We'd planned to have DH use the birthday admission, and just buy a 1day pass for myself and our 2 DD's (9yo and 4yo). However, the bday pass isn't a hopper and they really want to visit both parks. So we decided to get the $99 Summer passes (3day hopper, good for 45 days) instead, go for Saturday & Sunday, then sell the remaining 1 day hopper to family coming into town. Going on DH's birthday, it seems that if you already have an AP or mutli-day tickets, you will receive the $69 gift card instead.

My question is - what if you are buying the $99 Summer passes at the gate? Will they apply the bday "credit" toward my DH's Summer pass? Just give the gift card to be used in the park? Want DH to use the bday pass instead of the $99 Summer pass, since we have not already purchased it?

In the end, I guess it doesn't really matter because either way, I'm sure we'll use that $69 for food in the park! But I just wanted to know which to expect.

Hi, I'm not sure about an answer to your question. I just celebrated my birthday on June 5th and received the $69.00 gift card because I have an annual pass. Just wanted to mention that I was told the card could not be used toward food purchases, just checked the back of my card and it does say no food - and no alcohol or cigarettes :headache: :headache: :scared: :sad1: !!!!!

Do they even sell cigarettes at the park :cloud9:? Anyway, does say you can use it on "select merchandise", Photopass pictures, on-site services, and tour experiences at participating locations. And there's no expiration date. There's a website listed for more information, which is:DisneyParks.com/BirthdayFunCard

Guess they're worried you're gonna run to the Blue Bayou, but $69.00 is still a lot of money for them to give away so I'm not sure why food isn't included popcorn::.

I don't know the answer to your question but just buy the summer pass and then head inside to City Hall, get the Fun Card there and you're fine. DH will need his ID and his ticket media to get the Fun Card. fyi, you cannot use the Fun Card towards food, Grim Grinning Girl is correct on that, Fun Cards may only be used towards the purchase of merchandise, and only in Disney owned stores. For instance the crystal shop in NOS is not owned by Disney so they will not accept the Fun Card, there are a few other places like that so keep that in mind.
Also park tickets are non transferrable, so you should not sell them to your family that is visiting, it is against Disney policy. Just so you know.

Food merchandise can be purchased with the Fun Card. This would be things like, candy from Pooh's Corner or pre-packaged fudge for the candy shop on Main Street. Also, pre-packaged nuts, etc..... Just fyi.

Yeah pre-packaged food and candie makes sense. But why waste the card on stuff like that when you can splurge on an expensive sweatshirt or jacket . I should have bought lots of little things but I spent it on a sweatshirt, a shirt, and a license plate frame. Oh well, I certainly would never have shelled out $50 of my own money for a sweatshirt :headache:.

Well, some of those pre-packaged food items make GREAT gifts for friends and family that don't have the ability to visit Disney parks. And $70 can go a long way for holiday gifts.

Thank you! Good to know!
You're welcome. :wizard:

You can also use the "birthday admission" towards the $99 summer fun pass. You will pay the $30 difference.

My mom's birthday was May 10. They actually let her get a "2fer" ticket instead. So, they will allow some leeway if there is a promotion going on.

I used a "birthday admission" for my son when he turned 3 towards the purchase of his first AP. I was responsible for the difference in $ amount.

It requires two separate transactions, at two different ticket windows (they will just move you over to a second window, for security/fraud purposes), but it's very easy. Just tell the agent that you want to use your birthday admission towards the purchase of a "Summer Fun Pass". They will know what to do.
