Hi all, I will be 16 wks pregnant when we go to WDW in September. I was reading height requirements etc on AllEars and noticed that Barnstormer did not have the typical Expectant Mothers should not ride warning. My DD loves Barnstormer but dh gets motion sick too easy and can't ride it. I don't remember it being bad at all but it has been a year since we rode last. What do you think? Do you think it should have the expectant mothers notation on it as well?

I would sit it out. Better safe than sorry. Me personally, my question (about most things) is if I have to stop and question things, it's better I just play it safe. :)

I think that you will be just fine. When I was about 12 weeks I actually rode several rollar coasters at King's Island, a large amusement park in Cincinnati, Ohio. While I would not recommend that, there are a couple of big hills, but nothing like the rides that have the warnings. And since the ride only lasts about 30 seconds you will be finished rather quickly. If it were me, I would go ahead and ride it. Have a great time!

If it doesn't have a warning on it, then the lawyers think you will be as safe as the average rider, and they are all about "cya;" it's their job! But I would talk to your OB/GYN (or nurse/midwife, etc.) about it just to be sure. S/he might have some general guidelines or tips for you, and will be aware of your health history and the state of your pregnancy. I'll be 6 months preggers in September when we go with my daughter and I plan on having a nice long chat with my OB about what I should and should not do at the parks before I go, and she has always been great about answering questions.

Thanks for the replies. I have already determined I'm not riding it. I was mostly wondering if any of you think it should have the warning like the other coasters or not. It kind of suprised me when I didn't see the warning listed. DH says he thinks he can stomach a ride here and there on it for her. LOL

Hey adisneymama
DH can always try taking Bonnine (motion sickness tablets), they don't seem to knock you out like Dramamine does :faint: . My DW does on occasion (boat rides, some Disney rides, etc.) and they seem to work real well for her. She is planning on using it for Soarin.

Any way just thought I would mention it, you know, anything for the DD :thumbsup2 We have a DS 4.

Thanks. He doesn't do that bad. He mostly gets dizzy. He doesn't have problems on Soarin or things like that. Just things that spin fast etc. Really the only thing that has bothered him at Disney was Barnstormer (he didn't ride RNR) and he is usually fine after a few minutes. It's just that DD wants to ride Barnstormer over and over! LOL Hope it works for your wife though. Soarin is an awesome ride. DD will get to ride it for the first time this year!

We were there about a month ago and I considered riding it...if you see from my signature I was about 7 months pregnant at the time. Once I saw it...I am glad I didn't .....it seemed like it jerked quite a bit. I think I would rather not take the chance. Luckily my dh could go with the little ones. (older dd was in another area of the park at the time) I am glad you are deciding not to ride it. I just would hate to see something happen.

:sad2: I wouldnt. I was 7 mos pregnant last year when we went and I didnt even do my FAVORITE ride ever (safari in AK). I'm a nurse, and i tend to blow things off, but my thought was..."do i want to be in a hospital so far away from home" My answer was...mm...no. Just a tip...STAY HYDRATED. You dont realize how quick you become deyhdrated. 2 years ago I had just lost a baby and we went to disney to recover, last year I was pregnant with maddie, and this year it will be Maddie's first trip! Good luck to you and Congrats!

my wife who is about 4 months pregnant just went to the obgyn yesterday we are going to disney in august the first week the dr told her just to not go on anything jerky and stay hydrated

I vote no way! I know this from experience. Our first (and our last) trip to WDW was with DD turned 4 - I was 8 months pregnant. I did ride Barnstormer because it didn't have a warning and because I thought it wouldn't be that bad being located in Tootown - I thought I was gonna deliver that baby (DD now 2.5) right there on that coaster! It was awful. I recovered pretty quickly, jut really felt nervous for a little while.

We're going back in Oct  - and I'm gonna ride EVERYTHING this time

What about letting her ride by herself? I'm not sure how old she is - but maybe she could ride it alone a time or two?

DD is 4 and very small for her age weight wise. She won't be riding alone anytime soon. Dh can handle a ride here and there. He doesn't get "sick" and it doesn't ruin his day. Give him something to drink and let him sit a minute and he is ok. (This is specifically with Barnstormer, you would never want him on something like a tilt-a-whirl!) So they will make it.

Believe me, living in Houston, I know all about staying hydrated! We will definitely have plenty to drink with us and we are on the dining plan as well so no problems there!
