Where I work is a family owned business and I can bring my DD along, my boss's house is right next door and during the summer they have a young girl come and stay with their grandson -- he is just a year older than my DD. Anyways --- a couple times a week she and the grandson will come over to the office and invite my DD to go swimming or watch a movie in the afternoon with them. I feel like I should give her something (gift, money????) for being so nice to my DD. She enjoys playing with the grandson and gets bored at the office sometimes, so I really appreciate them including her. Any suggestions on what would be appropriate?? If money - how much??? Should I wait until the end of the summer or give her something every week????

TIA

Melinda

Depending on her age, she might might like it weekly or every other week. I am not sure on how much, though.

Depends. . .it would be best just to ask her: "I really appreciate you including my DD in your activities and want to compensate you for the trouble of watching 2 children instead of one. What do you think is fair?"

Last summer, we had a 11-year-old neighbor girl come in and play with our two children so my DH could get some work done. She was never left alone with them but essentially kept them completely entertained. We paid her $2 an hour.

If she is being paid by your boss......and looking after your DD because it suits her......then I would say give her a gift at end of summer......
If you are asking her to look after your DD then I think payment would be necessary.

Your DD is probably making her babysitting a little easier. I found that when I would babysit it was easier when a friend was there. The friend did most of the entertaining. I think a little gift, like a gift card or something you know she collects, would be great.

I agree with believe. It's always easier babysitting when there are other kids to play with, and more interesting. Maybe a gift card from the local mall so she can choose what she would like.

I like the Mall gift card (and have your DD make her a card). Back to school shopping will be coming up before we know it!

Thanks for your ideas - I think we will go for a mall gift card for back to school shopping. She is 13 or 14. Do you think $50 is enough??? My DD only goes when she is invited and it is usually only twice a week for at the most 2 hours.

I don't want to take advantage of her.

Thanks again,

Melinda

I think $50 is very generous and she will be very suprised. It is so nice to do something like that for someone who deserves it.
