Hey Guys,

We're going to Disneyland for a few nights really soon, and I was wondering how we're going to sleep our 15 month old son in his pack n play in the same room as us. I've tried putting a sheet over the top in the past, and he does not like that! What do you guys do? He will no doubt be distracted and awakened by us, so I need some help here! I know I can count on you guys...Thanks!

I would assume that he would be so tired from all of the daily stimulation, that he may not wake up at all with you around! LOL!! He will probably be out like a light!! I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have three kids that have all been when they were little and we never had a problem. My dd3 could sleep through the fireworks (if I let her!) after a long day in the park!

Yeah... My kids are usually so tired they can sleep through anything after a day at DL. And my baby is such a light restless sleeper. The first time she ever slept through the night was at DL, and she was a year and a half.

I had a terrible problem with this when my daughter was young. She had a really hard time sleeping anywhere that was not home in her crib. So, we just got a suite anytime we needed to go anywhere. Yet, that got expensive quickly. So, we tried putting the pack and play in the bathroom (which worked because neither my husband or I get up to go in the middle of the night) or we have put it in a largish closet which worked, too. On my daughter's first cruise, we put her pack and play in the walk-in closet with a CD player of lullabies and we were set! If you have a balcony that you could hang out on while he falls asleep, maybe that would work for you.

Good luck. I know that the the first time our daughter actually slept through the night in a hotel room, I was so relieved. Being a travel junkie with a daughter that refused to sleep anywhere but home was awful. But now she is 4 and loves hotels just as much as mom does:)

When traveling when our kids were smaller (2 and under), we did the pack and play in the closet area trick, and covered the top and the side that was exposed to the room with one of the flat sheets, so we could get up and use the bathroom and watch TV at night without the light bothering them. My kids were great sleepers, once they fell asleep they were OUT, so I don't know if this would work for everyone. Sleeping in one room with little ones, in a hotel or not, is no easy task. Lots of whispering and trial and error. Good luck!!

We were fortunate to have an adjoining room with my parents. Ours barely slept during the one night we were only in our room and tried to watch more than a half hour of tv. Actually, we moved him into bed with us so that he could while we chilled out!

But it really depends on your child's sleep habits. DS (15 mo) is use to his own room and darkness. Naptime was different. However, we put the pnp between the tv and the closet area. We put an extra blanket under the mattress and over one side. This closed off a lot of light without that claustrophobic sheet over the top thing.

Oh and, the bathroom light was fairly dim for us, so that light could be turned on without disturbing DS. Granted, taking your contacts out by "candlelight" (as DH calls it) isn't easy. ;)

I don't know where you're staying, but the Grand Californian has closets that are large enough to fit the assembled pack and play AND allow you to close the door. We put our 18 month old son in there to sleep naps and at night on our recent trip and he did great. With the door closed, there was still plenty of ventilation (there are about 1/2 inch gaps between the doors and around the frames) and it kept out the light AND the noise. We have a 3 y/o also, so if it had not been for this setup, I don't know if the baby would have ever slept. ;)
