? about American Idol Tour

For those of you who have been to a concert:

1. Is it OK to bring my 3 and 5 year olds? We won't leave them with a sitter as the closest venue is out of town for us and DS (5) loves Kellie . Just wondering if any of you have seen small children at a concert.

and

2. Approxiamately how much time is devoted to each idol? I don't see spending the money for only like 15 minutes of Taylor...

If you could give me any idea about the concert, it would be great.

It's a concert so it's pretty loud, but there was nothing inappropriate for young children.

Last tour (the only one I've been to) each of the top 10 did about 3 or 4 songs each (I think Bo and Carrie did the most). If you don't like the majority of the people its a lot of sitting around waiting for one person. Just need to ask yourself, how much you REALLY love Taylor

I went to the tour that had Clay/Ruben. I think it's fine for young children, but make sure you get seats off of the floor. Because people may want to stand and dance and then they won't be able to see.

We had second row for the show and there were times we would want to dance only to get yelled at by a family a couple of rows behind us. It really upset everyone around because they all wanted to dance. The Idols eventually told everyone to get up on their feet. Boy was that family not happy.

At that show, each Idol sang a song in the order in which they were kicked off the show. When it got down to the final two, they sang a bit longer. They also did a bunch of group songs. It was a fun show.

If I can get good seats, I'll probably go again.

My 7 yo really wants to go- and so does his mom! This is the first season I really want to see the tour.

I took my 6 and 10 year old last year and they enjoyed it, although it was a bit loud for them. There was a very wide range of ages there- from families with young kids, to teens, to couples, and even older couples. It was a very mixed crowd.

Ok, I saw this thread before the show started, and have been thinking of it since..................Jill, where did you get those prices???? I've been to the DCU site, and it says prices to follow....at ticketmaster it's not even listed yet. I hope that's not true, we plan on going!!!

I just looked at ticket prices from a link on Idolblog and they showed $139 per ticket for WI, but the link went to a site for a ticket broker. I'm hoping they're a lot cheaper when Ticketmaster gets them. I told DS8 we'd try to get tickets and he REALLY wants to see Mandisa and Taylor. We're not going if it's that expensive though.

We went to the tour last year. Our tickets were off Ebay and cost $300 for two! They were also 8 rows from the stage. Honestly, there isn't a lot of one on one with each singer. Each singer sang two songs. The winner sang 4 songs. The rest of the songs were with each other. I wouldn't take a 3 y/o there. It was extremely LOUD and I don't think that is good for a young child's hearing. The older should be okay though we never saw anyone under the age of 10 there. I wouldn't bring my kids if they were that young though.

Tickets go on sale Saturday May 20th at 10am, but there is an internet only presale that starts Wednesday May 17th at 10am.

Ticket prices are different for each venue but are in the $70 floor / $35 upper price range.

Ticketmaster lists the shows and the price ranges, although they are not on sale yet. Our show in Hershey, PA is listed as $38-$68.

I'm looking forward to it. Have never been to one, but was talking to a co-worker who had. She just said the show was very very long. You might want to think about whether your kids can hang in there that long. Since they go in order of how they left the show, Taylor may be (one of the) last. You'll need to stick around!

That's funny because I always wonder if you're at graycharles downloading at midnight on Tuesday nights (like me).

I'm still debating on whether or not to go. I think my 5 year old could handle it - we took him to see "Cats" recently and he sat through a Weird Al concert (he loves Weird Al) when he was 3 (DH's decision ). I'm worried about DD. It may mean some time out in the lobby ... for DH .

Don't forget you can preorder tickets on the 17th through a Pop Tarts Presents AI Live website, just google it. I don't know how well it works, but worth a try.
