This will be our 1st MNSSHP. I was wondering what others have dressed up as? I don't want to spend a lot of money on a costume. My DD would like me to wear my "bride" dress (as she calls my wedding dress) has anyone done this before? thanks for the help and ideas!

I wanted to order the $20 Minnie Mouse costume that was on disneydeals a couple of weeks ago...but oldest dd said she wouldn't be seen with me in it. (The joys of living with a tween) That was before she knew we were going to MNSSHP. Now she says go ahead, but all they have are XXL sizes. :(

I think I'm going to use an idea someone posted on TMFL list. I'm going to get some Disney PJs and carry my Pal Mickey and be a big kid ready for bed. Which by the time the night is over, I will be! :flower:

I think you will pass out from heat exhaustion unless your wedding dress is a miniskirt. We have been the last 4 years for the first two weeks of October and it has been VERY HOT. We adults usually bring something that contains a t-shirt and shorts for a costume. Last year it was cheerleaders complete with easy to pack pompoms. The year before we were aging members of the mouseketeer club complet with ears and shirts with our names on the back. I would never wear anything with a long skirt such as a wedding dress as I'd roast.

adult costume? The first time I read the title I thought "what like French Maid, or Leather mini skirt" :rotfl2:

My wife says I am a Perv :goodvibes

We are going to wear our pirate costumes! We are going on the disney cruise first and will be packing them for prirate night anyway. Might as well get two uses out of the costumes! I agree that a wedding dress would be too heavy and cumbersome. Comfort is a big thing to me. You could always check out your local thrift store. They always have cheap items that can be used to put together a costume. :flower:

We also did the mousekeeter thing. Ordered mock turtlenecks from lands end (short sleeved), and used sticky letters to put names on the front. Add some ears, and black shorts, and you are good to go.

I also think it would get rather hot, sticky, and uncomfortable in a wedding dress.

I wore a "Not-so-little Red Riding Hood" costume back in 2002. The skirt was about knee length (I wore shorts underneath) and my shirt was short-sleeved. Even my cape was pretty lightweight, so really not that warm. The only problem I had was that I didn't think the shoe thing through well enough in advance. I ended up wearing my New Balance, because the shoes I brought for the costume were comfortable at home, but not quite enough after several days of walking.

Last year I was a cat- cheap and easy wore black capris and tshirt and bot ears and a tail at party store. My DH was a pirate with the wig eyepatch and of course a parrot for his shoulder! These werent expensive and were easy to travel with.

I must admit it was great fun to look at the people that"really" dressed up.

Have a great MNSSHP!

we did not want to spend alot on costumes and also wanted to be comfortable....so, I made shirts for all of us (me, DH, DD and DNiece). All the t-shirts were black and I cut out and sewed a big orange felt letter "P" to the front of each. Then we all used makeup and gave each of us one big "black eye". So...do you know what we were? We were "Black eyed P"s" (as in black eyed peas). It was so fun and easy and the cast members got a great kick out of it once they figured out what we were! Great memories! And just another idea for those who don't want a "real costume" we also did this one year. One of us wore a shirt that we put the word "green" on, one wore a shirt with a big letter "N" and the 3rd wore a shirt with a big letter "V" on it. What were we.....Green with NV (envy). Have fun to all of you going for Halloween.

My boyfriend and I went two years ago (we are in our mid 40's). We dressed a Woody and Jessie from Toystory - we purchased the official costumes from the Disney Catalog - I did the full yarn wig and everything. It was warm that night and I just can get my DBF to wear anything but shorts in Florida so he wore his Woody shirt, vest, belt and hat with his shorts.

I want to be the QUEEN, at least for one night!! Darn the heat anyway!!

:rotfl:

Well, I can dream, cant I??? :rotfl:

last year daughter and myself dressed as 'punk' cats we were in orange and black and husband wore black shorts and a hawaiann shirt that was orange with skulls on it.
Whatever you do don't forget bug spray. We got quite a few bits around big thunder and splash mountain.

I dressed as Princess Aurora. My outfit is tons better than the park outfits and I look right on to the details. If you are a Disney costume geek, yes you CAN wear a Theme Character outfit for MNNSHP. If you really look like the character, prepare to get stopped and mobbed by kids. You can take pictures but are not allowed to sign autographs. This is because all cast members are trained to sign the characters signature the same so they match no matter who is signing or which park you are at.

fred and daphne from scooby doo. just dont sign any autographs. we did that for one child who asked, and were prompty reprimanded by disney security (who came out of nowhere) that we are not allowed to sign autographs! can you believe that?!?!
