I'm asking this for a friend. I just recently found out she was going to Disney World.
If you booked recently through a travel agent for an entire pkg (room, tickets, flight, DME ofcourse) --- and you already paid THEN found out about the dining plan- can't you add the dining plan at that point? since you bought a pkg???

The travel agent is telling her she can't because she already paid.... but couldn't she go through Disney themselves adding the pkg? I can't imagine having already paid making it where you can't add the dining plan- wouldn't that leave out ALL the people who plan way ahead and pay for their trip way ahead before the dining plan even started?

LMK please... she could really use the dining plan. She has older children including two boys that eat like men! LOL

Is she within the 45 day mark? If so, she'd have to pay whatever the fees are to cancel and then rebook. Even then, there's a chance that she may not be able to book the free dining plan for the dates of her trip.

There are only a certain number of packages offered at each resort. Just because you have a package A booked, doesn't mean you'll be able to switch it to package B.

I'm not sure, but I think the fact that she included air with her package may impact her ability to make changes.

Actually, I just added the dining plan yesterday, and we booked our entire package online and are set to arrive this Saturday! It took 20 minutes with a CM to do so, but she confirmed everything in the end, and it all sounds correct! Your friend may want to call Disney Reservations directly and see what can be done. Good luck!

Disney Bound! :cheer2:

I had already booked and paid in full for my package through AAA the last week of September. I read about the MYW + Dining through this site. I called my travel agent, and she was able to rebook the reservation. I lost my AAA discount for the 7 night stay since you are not allowed to combine the deal with other discounts (about $150 total for our family of four at POFQ), but we will in the long run save several hundred dollars more than this through the meal package, and eat at better restaurants than we had planned.

If your stay is more than 45 days away, then yes, your travel agent should be able to rebook. I would insist that she attempt to do so. If he/she is not willing to do so, I would review cancellation/refund options to see if it would be worth cancelling the reservation, and then rebooking directly through Disney. Of course, I would make sure that since the plan is limited, that you actually booked through Disney for the package with the dining plan, and then reschedule if this is financially beneficial to you.

If your friend has already paid in full, I'm assuming her stay is before the free dining is offered? I can't believe Disney would turn down anyone wating to ADD to their package. If the TA can't do anything, your friend should call WDW. It might be possible to add the package when she gets to her resort.

You can't add the dining package on within 48 hrs of your arrival. But your TA should be able to add that on for you if your outside of that time frame. If you are withing 45 days of arrival then there may be a penalty for changing the reservation. But CRO can't modify a TA booking the TA has to do it or call CRO to do it cause they own the booking.

The trip is coming up quick- she'll be there while I am (part of our stay). She'll be there June 18th-25th.
So it isn't 45 days out and maybe the TA told her it couldn't be done because it would have to be rebooked and it's too close to the dates to rebook. But I honestly thought they'd let her add dining to the plan even after the fact. Why does it have to be REBOOKED- there isn't anything else being changed even if she'd rebooked. It's just adding the dining plan!

I think I'm going to tell her to call WDW herself- I can't imagine they'd turn someone down on adding the dining plan when they are already doing the entire pkg- as entire as you can get really. (room w/no discount, tickets, flight all together)
