Last May (2004), DH and I booked DL 50th Anniversary package through the Disney Travel Co. We are staying 4 nights (6/28-7/2) at the Paradies Pier before boarding The Magic. My paperwork that I printed out states that I should receive my tickets, etc. 21 days prior to arrival. I confirmed this with a CM earlier in the month over the phone. She told me my coupon for my commrmorative clock would be in the package also, and I would have to get that from DTD. When I called tonight, trying to get info, since my docs have not yet arrived, the CM told me that people with the package I had, would get everything ....tickets and all......once they checked in. Now, I'm a little nervous. I'm leaving Tampa, and flying across the US with nothing but my original reservation that I printed off. I have NOTHING that shows I've paid this thing off.

It seems that I can't get straight answers from CM's in DL. I was also told to call 30 days in advance to book my "Walk In Walt's Footsteps" tour. When I tried to do that at the beginning of the month, they said, "Oh no....we'll just assign you a time". " It will arrvive WITH YOUR TRAVEL DOCS 21 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!

Anyone else getting this response?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

We booked the 50th Anniversary Package also from 7-15 to 7-18. We were told it could only be booked for 3 nights. The initial rules also stated that we would book the Walt Tour up to 30 days before the trip thru the regular tour bnooking phone number. When I called them ahead of time to find out their hours, etc., they didn't know what I was talking about. They said they only book tours if you buy tours thru them.

We called WDTC who said they will automatically book the tour the second day of the package. It got tricky from there since we also booked an Event package over those same dates.

We werre also told that tickets and info would be Fed Exed to us 21 days before the trip. I was told that several times while on the phone with them recently, only to be finally told that they could not ship it because of the clock and that we would have to pick it up at the hotel.

You would think they would have better communication with their guests and their other departments.

Good. At least I'm not the only ones who thinks they don't have their act "together". Aren't you nervous about flying out there with nothing in your hands?

The Walt Disney Travel Company will FedEx your documents 21 days before your arrival date, which means you'll probably get them 14-18 days before your arrival date & will have to sign for them.

The documents will include your hoppers and vouchers for preferred seating, commemorative clock, Disney tote bag if you pay for your vacation with your Disney Visa.

To redeem your vouchers, you need to go to the Walt Disney Travel Company office that is located in Downtown Disney, next to Compass Books, and facing the Disneyland Hotel. I do not believe that you will be able to pick up your clock, etc., from the hotel, and there is a chance they might not know what you are talking about. However, the vouchers will tell you where to go to pick up these things, as well as the lanyards/pins, I believe.

Since Disney does not deliver out of the US, docs for foreign visitors are picked up at the hotel when they check in. For some reason, it looks like tchrmom's docs are also going right to the hotel instead of being delivered.

The Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour is typically scheduled for the day after your arrival, however, you can change that. I've changed it for my own clients, so it shouldn't be a problem. Since you are staying at a DLR hotel, you can contact Vacation Planning to handle that for you - just give them your name and confirmation number, if they need that. The phone number is in one of the stuck threads at the top of this board.

I signed up for it on the Disney website, so I saved the confirmation pages and other stuff. WDTC has an office in DTD near Compass books, so I am told, so I will walk over there if needed. I also saved the credit card statements of where I made payments. I also have been talking to them enough that they know who I am.

We are actually staying from 7-14 to 7-24, so we will get there 1 day before our package (7-15 to 7-18) starts. That helps too.

I'm not sure what they are doing for guests who also purchased airline reservations thru them. Surely they would have to receive something before they arrive. Then again, maybe just the airline tickets or e-tickets.

I booked a package at WDW before thru WDTC and it went fine. It just concerns me with this trip that they can't seem to keep their stories straight and they continue to change the rules at will. I would think they have already had some guests with this package since it was available starting May 5, I believe.

Good luck to us all!

I did call the vacation planning, which was located in GC, I think. They could have been more helpful if I hadn't confused the situation. They may be able to book your tour other than the second day of the package if they haven't already requested vouchers for your tour.

I have friends that will be there during the same time that don't have a package and I wanted to book and pay for their tour for the same time that we schedule our tour. This has become an ordeal. Note: No one seems to be able to do this.

WDTC books tours at 9am and 2pm, but calling the tour number they book tours at 9:30, 11:30 and 12. This is part of the information I have gotten so far.

It has just become too tricky to try to organize this because the different areas don't communicate or work together very well based on my situation: WDTC, Vacation planning, TOUR dept.

PS: Disney Visa offers 20% discount on tours. Vacation Planning does not honor this. The representative told me this, researched it, called me back and confirmed. He said I would have to call the TOUR number to get the discount.

Where were you when I needed you Mary Jo? ;)

For another perspective, we also had the package booked and was initially told to call 30 days ahead of time to book the tour. When we tried this, we were told that the tour is automatically booked for the day after arrival. This wouldn't work for us since we already had special plans to celebrate my b-day which was the day after our arrival. I tried calling WDTC 30 days ahead of time and they told us they couldn't make a change since the tour reservation was already booked and told us to call the tour office. When we called the tour office, they said that since the reservation was made through WDTC that they were the only ones who could change it. So, we called WDTC back and asked to talk to a supervisor who then told us that we could just change the date at guest services when we checked in. So we believed her, and after checking in and getting all our tickets, we went to guest services who then said all other tours were booked...sorry.

So, we tried to avert this issue before we ever left home but were given the run around only to be mislead which resulted in a very poor start to our trip.

This is what I am trying to avoid.

Mary Jo,

When you made changes to these tours for your guests, was it before they left or after the tour vouchers were issued and they arrived at the park?

Thru WDTC, they suggested that I could change the time if I didn't like it when I arrived, plus they told me the tour had to be done within the package dates. I then questioned that since anyone else that did not purchase a package from them over a year ago could schedule their tour 30 days in advance, which could cause "no other time avaiable" for the tour when I arrived.

It simply doesn't make sense to me that I would be at a disadvantage, when I purchased this a year ago over people that simply call up and can schedule whenever they want 30 days out.

Plus I do have documentation that tells me that I can call 30 days out and schedule my own time, only to be told now that WDTC will do it when they choose to.

Sorry....a little venting going on.

Vent away Baloo! I would not wish what happened to us on my worst enemy. I didn't share the rest of the story so as not to worry you too much, but if it can be changed ahead of time, I STRONGLY suggest you do whatever possible.
