? About 10% off $50 purchase with Disney Visa

If you buy $50 worth of merchandise to get the 10% off with your Disney Visa can you use your Disney Reward Card to pay and still receive the 10% off?

In December I was able to just show my Visa and get the discount the first "shopping" stop at the Emporium. However, at our last shopping stop of the trip, I was told I had to PAY with the Visa to get the discount.
