Abed from the show Community on Cougar Town

Several weeks ago on Community, the character Abed talked about being invited to visit the set of Cougar Town. While there he was asked to jump into the background of a scene. So tonight on Cougar Town he showed up (very obviously) in the background of a scene. Hilarious, and unexpected, since the shows are on two different networks.

I was wondering what the heck that guy was doing behind Lori imitating her talk. I thought he looked familiar.

Also, did you catch the guy "Ted" from Scrubs? He was actually playing the same character from Scubs because he was named Ted and he talked about his girlfriend Gooch.

Troy and Abed are 2 of the funniest characters on tv. I'll even go so far as to say they make Community. If they weren't on there, I wouldn't be watching.

The same thing was said about Karen and Jack, on Will & Grace (the television series). The problem is that without Will and Grace (the characters), Karen and Jack would have been like cartoon characters and not very memorable. I don't think Troy and Abed are that far out there, but it's close. There's a great art in being "the straight man" in a comedy shtick, in some ways harder than being the comic. And in Community, I think it is even more challenging, since there are really only one or two "straight men" for a good half dozen of comics.

Loved it when he said he'd been Gooched! I was hoping he'd make make a reference to her character on Raising Hope, even though she plays a different person there.

I didn't watch Community all the time the first year. Just off and on. I don't like Chevy Chase and the Jeff and Brita thing was so obvious. I think the first one that really grabbed my attention and made me a big fan was the one when Jeff (I think) found the trampoline next to the school. That episode let me know this is not the average sitcom. I've been a huge fan ever since.
