As it stands now, ABD will not provide transfers if you book pre and/or post nights on your on. They will provide transfers if you book pre and/or post nights through ABD.

The 6/15/2015 change to this policy is as follows:

If you book pre and/or post nights on your own at the first Adventure hotel (ex. finding a rate less expansive than that offered by ABD), ABD will now provide transfers from the airport to the Adventure hotel.

If you book pre and/or post nights at a different hotel (then the one being used by ABD), ABD will provide transfers from the airport to the first Adventure hotel. The guest would then need to get from the Adventure hotel to the hotel they have booked on their own.

This can be a big deal when an airport is far from town. ABD will transfer you into town and you have to get to your destination.

Montana / Canada and Arizona / Utah are excluded from this policy because the closest airports are far from the first Adventure hotel.

For example, on the Montana Adventure, the airport is 2.5 hours from the first hotel. ABD provides one (and only one) transfer from the airport to the hotel. The first Adventure activity takes place during this transfer.

Guests looking to arrive in the area early are given the suggestion to spend the night immediately prior to the start of the Adventure at an airport hotel and make arrangements to get themselves to the airport in order to catch the transfer bus.

If you have questions or would like to book an Adventure, please let me know.

Oh, that is a seriously cool change! :thumbsup2 Sometimes the ABD hotel is just *too* expensive for pre-days, or isn't in the part of town where you want to be. You're right, the fact that they'll transfer you from the airport (which could be way out of town) when you first arrive (and are still jet-lagged!) could be a really big deal. It's usually a short cab drive to get from one hotel to another. I like this change!

I like it too. Maybe ABD should look at lowering their rates they charge for the hotel room. A number of times you can go on line and reserve the same hotel, same room type for a less expensive rate than ABD charges. We have traveled with other companies where the pre day hotel room was free as a "perk".

Ok, so I think that this is good news, but I'm not too sure. I'm hoping for some clarification. We are doing the BSM in October. We have booked one pre night at the Loews through ABD so I know that transfer from LAX to the Loews is included. However after the stay at the Grand Californian we are switching over to Paradise Pier for 4 post nights, obviously not booked through ABD. Does this change now mean that if we get back over to the Grand Californian on our departure day we could get an included transfer from there back to LAX? Thanks!

It sure sounds like it. But I'm sure @DisneyKevin could tell you for certain.

This policy change only affects arrival transfers.

Transfers for the end of the Adventure have not changed.

ABD provides transfers for everyone at the end of the Adventure and for guests that book post nights through ABD.

If you book post nights on your own, you will need to provide your own transportation to the airport.

Thanks for the reply DisneyKevin. I guess why I had thought that was because the policy change states "pre and/or post" nights. So I guess it's really only for pre-nights?

I was about to post a transfer question on the ABD Italy thread, but let me post it here.
I am doing ABD Italy this summer (@DisneyKevin is my fabulous travel agent) but I will post here instead of sending an email so others might be able to use this information.
I plan on doing both pre- and post- stays in Italy, but my pre-days wont be in Rome any my post days wont be in Venice. Instead, I am touring other parts of Italy with a car rental. I am dropping off my pre-stay rental at the Termini train station in Rome and picking up my post stay car rental at the Mestre train station on the mainland in Venice. Will these transfers be covered by ABD?

Does the answer change on the Rome side if I first took the rental car to the Grand Melia in Rome early in the AM, dropped off my bags then took the car to do a side trip in the Rome area and went to the Termini in mid-afternoon to drop the car off... Could I still get a transfer from Termini under this fact pattern?

Finally is a 12:30 car rental pick-up time too late in Venice?

ABD will provide transfers from the Termini in Rome and to Mestre in Venice.

As long as you are at a transfer point on the day the Adventure begins and going to a transfer point on the last day of the Adventure, your pre and post plans do not affect anything.

I believe you will be fine dropping your luggage at the hotel, then returning your car and meeting the transfers at the train station.

I think a 12:30 pick up is fine as well.

Because these transfers deviate from the norm, I will need to schedule these with ABD. They will need details such as what time you wish to be transferred. Because you don't have a train schedule to follow, this will be arbitrary.

Thx Kevin. I will give you the details after I *gulp* make my final payment.

Intersting change - how does this affect existing bookings? I eventually booked 3 extra nights at Loews through ABD and swallowed the additional costs (it was somewhat cheaper to book directly) just so we got the transfers and it was all together - i paid in full this morning!

thanks

Lorraine

Thanks for posting. I plan on doing a couple days in LA prior to tour and this will give me more money for Mickey of Glendales :)
