ABD Backstage Magic - Summer 2010 Edition!

In flight....woohooo. Ran into Lisa and Paul at Hartsfield. We're on the same flight. Small world!! Flight scheduled to arrive early at this point.

1600 nautical miles until LAX. Thanks pilot Don for that information!

Arrived at DLR Friday afternoon. Got to play on the parks Friday and Saturday. Saw WOC last night (much to talk about... but after everyone else sees the show). Off to the Grand to pickup the transportation to Hollywood.

See everyone later today!

Hey everyone!! Our guide Mike just called. Dinner has been moved from 5:50 to 5;00. Trying to reach everyone in every possible way!

As we speak, DIS correspondent, Nancy Johnson, is stalking the ABDers' bus from the park. LMAO

I thought it was a fun surprise and it is right on my drive home from work. Got a last chance to catch up with my gal-pals Jen, Kristen, Christy (and Wayne) one last time, since I have to work the rest of the week.

Everyone have fun! It was great meeting all y'all! Unfortunately, no more surprise visits from me! pixiedust:

Just finished up at the Walt Disney Studios. We're now on the bus, headed to the Grand Californian. Our bus driver Don is dodging L. A. traffic on "the I-5". ETA about 30 minutes.

Amazing trip so far and everyone is wonderful! Met some great friends. That is definitely one of the best parts of adventuring with the DIS folks.

Some of us went to see Toy Story 3 last night at the El Capitan and others went to Jimmy Kimmel. We all met up for breakfast this morning.

After we check in, we're going to Steakhouse 55! Disneyland is open until midnight tonight! Sleep? We don't need no stinking sleep! :yay:

Just checked in. Mickey's Band Concert is playing on the Disney Channel! How appropriate!

Sorry we've been MIA. We've been so busy...but good busy. Wayne is right. It has been an amazing trip and we still have three more days. It has been great meeting all the DISers on the trip.

I promise more details and pictures as soon as I am home.

Oh...I got to hold an Oscar today!!!!

This trip so far has been amazing! I think we have been too busy to post, but there will be tons of pics up when we get back! Heading down to have dinner at steakhouse 55. I can't wait to see what surprises are in store tomorrow!

If any of you have a chance, could you ask Pete to ask your guide Michael how we can get in touch with our other guide from the April ABD trip. His name is Jaime and has been deployed to Iraq.
Thanks for your help.
I know you're having the time of your life

A bunch of us got to see World of Color tonight. We got standard Blue area Fastpass tickets for the 9:00 show. You got a choice to stand down in Paradise Park on the left side of the second row (not the splash zone) or stand on the bridge.

I saw the show last Saturday from the Park and the view was not very good. You have to look kind of sideways through the crowd to see "show center". So even though I was in the first dozen folks who stood in the blue zone, I really didn't enjoy the show because of the restricted view.

Tonight we all stood on the bridge and I must say that the view is 1000% better. You can see the full range of the fountains clearly and the projections are not blocked by everyone in front of you. The view from the bridge is definitely better overall than the view from Paradise Park. You do need to be on the rail or behind a shorter person, but that is easier to do on the bridge. You loose a bit of the projection details, but the view of the fountains and lighting effects are much better.

I was hesitant about this show from my first viewing, but now I can say that it is truely impressive and wonderful!

Hope you all are having a great time on your Adventure. Thanks to Pete and Wayne for keeping us all updated.

For those of you staying around through the weekend, just a reminder:

Unofficial DIS Meet
Saturday, July 31st, 2010
La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney (near the bag check)

Also, Friday night a couple of us are doing a semi-late dinner at Plaza Inn, then hanging out there to watch the fireworks. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you details.

Tom

We just finished our final breakfast and had our last hugs and goodbyes. Some folks are doing a last minute park run (before heading off on flights) and others are staying a few extra days (like me).

I officially declare this to be a wonderful and magical success!
