ABD Backstage Magic 7/31 - 8/5/11

Paula

As you know Im soooo in for a Chocolate Bar exchange. Infact its become quite the topic here of all the diffrent types of " Canadian Chocolate". etc I should bring/send ahead. Of course with some sugar free stuff if Pete would like to participate as well.

Should I start stocking up on Canadian Reese stuff as it does taste diffrent than the american counterpart.

The only comment I will make is that I only have a 23kg (50 pound) bag limit so can't go overboard. :rotfl2:

It was so funny when I mentioned on FB that I had Reese's a few of my friends begged for some!

I'm definitely on the hunt for coconut m&ms next time too! Couldn't find them anywhere in Orlando and finally saw some at LAX but no more space in the bag unfortunately.

I have booked my flight - 15th July to LAX, with the time change we arrive before we've left! Then flying back to Auckland on the night of Friday 5th August - we loose a day going home so arrive Sunday morning. It does my head in so I'm not going to think about it anymore :lmao:

I love violet crumble! Can you get that one where you live?

There is cocont M&M's??

I've not seen them here, I know what you mean though as we have something similar by Cadbury's called a Crunchie bar. They are yummy.

We have crunchie here, is it chocolate wrapped around sponge toffee??

Sounds like they were a limited release but they may keep selling them according to this article.

Well, I live 45 minutes from the US border. I think Sunday I will go and see what I can find.

OOOOOHH We have Cadbury Crunchie bars in Canada too and they are SOOOO GOOOD. There is something magical about when the milk chocolate melts in your mouth with the sponge toffee :D:cloud9:

OK - Did some research and I think I will pick one of these to bring:

Coffee Crisp. Yes - coffee AND chocolate! Famous ads called it 'A Nice Light Snack'. Think milk chocolate, coffee cream and thin cookie wafers. Apparently this is uniquely Canadian. And DELICIOUS

Crispy Crunch. Milk chocolate covers a toffee/peanuty crispy wafer. Sorta like peanut brittle but thin and wafery and crumbly. TOTALLY YUM.

Big Turk. Milk chocolate covers a bar of Turkish delight. What is turkish delight? It's like a fruity jelly. The DH loves it. Me, not so much. But it is VERY Canadian, I'm told. It is, incidentally, low in fat.

What sounds most appealing to you all? I'll bring the one that most want to try. ;)

I was thinking, given limited space and weight allowances in luggage - maybe we could go for the snack/Halloween sizes? I'm just thinking that 30 fullsize bars is more than a case and well - that's a lotta chocolate!

I vote for Turkish Delights. I have wanted to try Turkish delights ever since i saw Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

Is there anything anyone wants to try/exchange from the Seattle area I live about 30 miles from it.

Also sounds good to me - we get chocolate covered Turkish delight here too - Fry's Turkish Delight which is made by Cadbury's. The other two sound great!

I can bring Moro (similar to Mars bars), Moro Gold (crispy stuff in them too), Pinkie (pink marshmallow with a thin layer of caramel then covered in chocolate 90% fat free) and probably others that are NZ (or maybe Australian).

I think the "snack" size are a good idea - we did that on the cruise I just went on - those interested bought a small snack size bar or two for everyone else participating. It was good fun!

OK - so snack/Halloween size it is - which also means I could have room for 2 bags, 2 different kinds. So far it looks like Big Turk and Coffee Crisp. Anyone else have a preference?

I think I remember having a chocolate bar - Dove? - when I was in NZ years ago. Really velvety and yummy.

While not technically chocolate, when we lived in California the DH would buy this nougat bar...never found anything like it here. Anyone know what I mean? - drat can't remember the name...but it was really yummy and really CHEWY.

You know we could * could* mail them home.. Plus there has to be a allowance for what might get eaten whilst in Los Angles. Vacation rules apply, calories dont count on Vacation.

I got an ABD letter in the mail today! It was another confirmation letter. So exciting! I just love getting ABD stuff in the mail!!! :)

Not that I saw when I looked at it quickly. It was just an updated confirmation letter and balance.
