ABD Backstage Magic 7/31 - 8/5/11

This time in two weeks I will be on the plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my I just got really really excited!

I think I'm coming down with something myself. I was just thinking the same thing!

Today is my last day off before leaving on the trip. Hope I am still standing a week from Saturday. This stretch may be a bit rough.

I've got one more week till the transition at work, then the last week Im going to work straight thru till we fly out... Im going to need more wine I think.

Don't worry, Sara. The Renaissance will be fully stocked for us on the first night. ;)

Hang in there everybody! I'm sure a bunch of us will be doing extra work to prepare for being gone, and we also have to prepare for the trip itself! Hopefully we'll all be healthy for the trip and still have energy stored up to enjoy every little and big moment. :cool1:

I hope you feel better soon and get a minimal case of whatever you're coming down with, Nikki! I'm really lucky that I got antibiotics when I did. :upsidedow

I have a feeling it's a sinus infection or just allergies. They were killing me all day today. I'm going to start a strict regimen of Silver Needle tea tomorrow for the extra antioxidants.

Let's all think good thoughts for renewed energy and health as we get closer to our adventure!

Good idea! Mine started out as a little sinus infection, and then it decided to make it a bigger one. I'm pretty sure I did this last year too, but I was healthy for the trip. Hey, as long as it happens a few weeks before the trip, that'll work...

To good health and lots of energy! :wizard:

Hello, my name is Sara and Im a over packer.

I went into my suitcase and I have packed every favorite piece of clothing for summer I have. I have about two weeks of stuff with me. But I keep saying, what if,..
What if I spill on my self?
What if we go somewhere fancy?
What if I get so hot I need to change?

I need to pair it back... I just don't know where to start..

And not to add fuel to the fire, but you're also going to be wearing things from Mickey's of Glendale and the overall Disneyland area... I'm just guessing... And if we're lucky enough to get into Club 33 for breakfast...

:rotfl2: Now you sound like me! I refuse to pack until next week (even though I've packed in my head several times).

Hello, fellow overpackers! I overpack as well and am glad of it! Three years ago, at breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen, a waitress spilled a pitcher of milk all over Jeff. Shirt, socks, shoes, all covered with milk! He ran back to the room and was able to change into all clean clothes and shoes. After that, I will always pack a little extra because you never know what accidents will happen! :laundy:

Hello again!! We are looking forward to meeting everyone and are getting revved up for our "Adventure". Just a thought, how about packing as little as possible and taking an empty suitcase; just in case you see something to bring back?? Second thought, maybe we should bring a change of clothes if we have room. Jerry & Loni

We have not packed a thing which I blame on Lilly the dog. Lilly gets a little grumpy when she spots the red suitcases out of the closet. She knows that the suitcases are the first step to one of two things: a visit to "camp" or a visit to her "cousin." Lilly is not a fan of either choice because it interupts her life style as Queen of the house. So we must pack secretly this weekend....

10 hours!!??!! :scared1:

10 hours?!!!!!!!! OMG. I'd be going nuts. Are they providing lodging?

Yes they put us up in a hotel for a night ... and when I say "night" I mean we finally got to the hotel around 10pm and scoffed some food from the buffet as we'd not eaten dinner then we had to be back in the reception for 4.15am shuttle to the airport as we were scheduled to fly at 7.30am... guess what, the flight was delayed again! Only about an hour this time but we weren't happy campers by the time we got underway. We did both have a free seat next to us though which is great for long flights to stretch out and sort of lay down a bit. But the worst part, we landed at LAX and there was no gate for us to park - we sat and waited for what seemed like a life time ... but we finally arrived!

On the flight, I dozed for a couple of hours and then Mum and I played tetris against each other for a while using the seatback entertainment. I also watched the last few episodes of Two and a Half Men and about half the first season of Angel (I love David Boreanaz) - they had all of season 1 and also a full season of Bones so I'm guessing whoever picks the TV selections likes him too ;)

I was really impressed by the aircraft - the entertainment was excellent and the "online" snack ordering is cool too - you just choose what you'd like on the touchscreen and a few minutes later one of the flight attendants brings it to you. My "special" vegetarian meals were excellent too - I highly recommend Air New Zealand for any of you planning on coming to visit me :rotfl2:

When we got to DLH, it was about 3.30am and there was NO ONE to check us in - we stood and waited for a few minutes and then finally someone came out but they really weren't expecting us at that time LOL

So for anyone considering what to wear - I saw this morning some really nice clothing at DCA - lots of World of Color sweatshirts and t-shirts and some very nice DCA specific stuff if you are wanting something different from the standard Disney t-shirts.

At DL yesterday, they had a Mary Blair exhibit and I got a Small World t-shirt - I've been wanting one for YEARS! I also got a very cute (but $$$) charm bracelet for Small World.

There is also some Disneyland Resort clothing which some of you may like as a change if you are a WDW regulars.

The weather is totally gorgeous too - warm and sunny (a little hotter today).

So glad to hear you are enjoying it now that you have landed! That airline sounds like a dream! I so wish we had that here. Love David Boreanaz and Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Can't wait for the Mary Blair exhibit and to see the new clothing out. See you next week! :cool1:
